Wires aren’t impossible to deal with they are just highly undesirable in a pair of headphones. And given the choice to not have to deal with them, I will make that choice.
You do inderstand that Bt will be long gone before audio jacks, yes?
And as more and more people don’t care about the 3.5mm jack, more and more phones will come without one, until one day there are no phones with a 3.5mm jack. And then, you’ll have to adapt.
No, apparently you dont.

People ... i think someone said "phones must be built for the many, not the few". People do not use bluetooth. Bluetooth is a garbage technology, soon to disappear. It was originally created to make phones communicate between each other - to pass on business cards and such - and it has never worked properly. Bt audio is vulgarly bad, and Bt earbuds are so bad as a tech that the defects that you try to put on jack headphones pale in comparison to the real, provable defects of Bt.

i mean .. lol. "audio jack is bad - Bt is great"
They run out of power. Oh but they dont have wires.
They break and get lost. Yes but they dont have wires!
The audio is horrible. But they have no wires.
They are expensive! Yes but they have zero wires.
It's outdated technology.. but no wires!!
THEY WILL GIVE YOU CANCER ! YES BUT NO WIREEEESSSSS !

This whole thread is retarded. I have no idea why anyone would argue a feature that costs a fraction of a percent of the sales tax on a device shouldn't exist. If it weren't for the size, I'd be fine with a floppy drive on the phone. Just because it's there doesn't mean I have to use it. I can still use my sd card, or the internal memory, or whatever. The people that want a floppy drive can use it.

Just like you don’t care whether your phone has a floppy drive or not, most people don’t care whether their phone has a 3.5mm jack or not. People can still use the following on a phone without a 3.5mm jack:

Bluetooth headphones.
Lightning/USBC headphones.
3.5mm headphones with an adapter.

I’ve not read anything about Bluetooth going away. Where did you hear that?

Dongles are stupid, and one of the things I do is plug in my headphone jack and charge at the same time. It takes virtually zero resources to include a headphone jack, so anyone that doesn't is a failure at design; full stop. You aren't "brave", "edgy", or "forward thinking" by not including a headphone jack. In the case of a manufacturer, you're trying to maximize profit. In the case of a end user, you're a dumbass.

Can you not plug your headphones into the lightning/USBC port and just put your phone on your Qi charger?

I don’t think anyone is ‘brave’, ‘edgy’ or ‘forward thinking’ for not including a headphone jack. I simply don’t care that it’s not there because I stopped using it nearly 3 years ago. And people who do use wired headphones will either use lightning/USBC headphones or a dongle, and their lives will continue as they were.

So your solution is to buy a special charger? Or to add another fail point? Or to use inferior tech from the 90s ?

Just because you adapted to an inferior solution - and cant tell it's even inferior, in the name of IT DOESNT HAVE WIRES - doesnt mean that TECHNOLOGY ENTHUSIASTS will be willing to come to the same compromises as you did just because your lords and masters removed an elegant hardware solution that outperforms yours at a lower, non-brand-tied cost point.

As for Bt disappearing, help yourself to this googling of bluetooth is garbage: https://www.google.com/search?q=bluetooth+is+garbage&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b

I particularly like the search recommendation "why is bluetooth so awful?"

Just use your existing Qi charger; no need to buy anything new.

I meant for you to show me the story where Bluetooth is going away (and presumably what new technology is going to replace it)

Oh yeah wait i forgot i magically own a Qi charger.

Bt is a standard. Anyone is free to add it, just like they are free to make a mouse that comes with a ps2 plug. Except they won't because it sucks.
(More than ps2. Ps2 is actually cool)
Or, you know, a BLUETOOTH mouse. They were all the rage around '2000, remember? What happened there? Why did the technology disappear?
Limited bandwidth, limited range, error prone, ridiculously prone to interference, consumes battery, often disconnects, did i mention horrid audio quality? THIS is the tech of the future?

I need to ask you a question now .. the time has come.

Q: are you in any way associated with Apple ?

I never see adapt or die as a bad thing because change is fun and exciting. I understand some people really struggle with change though, and that’s fine.
I just want my stuff to work. I don't need stuff to get complicated for no reason at all.

Maybe you are right some people will put up with whatever and then justify it later. The number of people I hear justifying how great it is that Google hoovers up all of their data to build advertising profiles is testamount to that.

You hear excuses like:

But I’ve got nothing to hide

Or

But they provide such great services

Or

It’s too difficult to move everything away from Google.

Google have these people by the balls.
See when people divert from the point this far you kinda know that they have nothing.

I thought you were supposed to be a TECHNOLOGY ENTHUSIAST?

Bluetooth mice are great; no wire and no need for a USB receiver. I’ve been using them for many years now.

Yeah I just want my stuff to work too. I don’t think you got the point about people putting up with what they get.

Ok pal we can end it here. You have said everything you could say and any hopes you might have had of having a passable reputation here are forever gone.

P.s.
You forgot the (tm) at the end of "just work".

Wireless charging is a good analogy tbh.

I use and love wireless charging but I'd be pretty narked if they took the charging port out and forced me to only use wireless for charging.

I wouldn’t care; I only use wireless charging now anyway.

I've been using wireless charging with my phone for a good 4 or 5 years now but there's no way that I wouldn't be inconvenienced by the removal of the charging port. I have wireless chargers in my car, next to my bed and in my home office but there's no way I'd do without the option of wired charging.

Explain to me how you are getting anything close to top performance from your audiophile grade headphones without external DACs and amps and lossless audio files. Cause when people generally say they play music from their phone they are using Pandora or other streaming which sounds just as bad on my sennheiser HD580s as it does on the Apple earbuds and my sennheisers aren’t even cream of the crop when it comes to headphones.

So you assume people only use Pandora or another streaming service on their phones? You do know that you can drag and drop high bit rate or lossless files onto your phone and play them through the phone's dac right? Most newer phones have excellent digital to analog converters, plenty good enough for music listening. This is why I shouldn't bother to reply, you make huge assumptions about how other people use their phones. My point was not even close to saying anything like a phone is equal to a high end home audio components setup.

It's hilarious how the removalists are spending the thread coming up with ad hominems to justify the greedy, unnecessary removal of a feature.

As far as space, a modder put a working jack into the iPhone 7... The space excuse was a flat out lie.

I’ve not seen any ad-hominems. If anything, it’s the pro-3.5mm jack people who have been unnecessarily hostile and rude, and very disjointed and vague in their arguments.

It's better if you don't speak in generalities. There's a lot of people like me who still load FLAC files onto their phone, and they sound fantastic when using an app with a proper EQ like poweramp. If you have good headphones, you get amazing sound quality from your phone using that app.
