Headphones: do you guys reccomend in ear canal, or normal

are the Sennheiser 497's a comfortable headphone? they look comfy, its just unless i put a towel or something underneath my current headphones they get heavy and hurt. and towels look stupid but overall they sound, OK, not the best.

check out the beyer DT880s if you have the $$$$. arguably the most comfy pads of all headphones . butr seriously. the hd497 are okay, i used to own them. they do get hot after a little, but all headphones do that. the headband if i recall has less pressure on the head than the sr80s. ouch.

I got a pair of these for Christmas from my dad. They are incredible. They block out virtually all external noise, they are VERY comfortable, and the range is amazing. I am hearing things in my movies and music I have never heard before. I got the ER4P, which is the top of the line... If you have the money, this is it...

i used to own ety er4p with the s converter. they sound very very very good. only problem is lots of people complain about not being able to hear outside/comfort/convenience/microphonics. otherwise they sound EXCELLENT.
