Our company recently announced that it will be introducing a new 'healthcare strategy' soon...I have a bad feeling about this. Just how many straws can you put on the backs of the middle class?

My employer held a meeting for non-union members where we were informed that coverage for us could soon be dropped entirely.

The employees in AFSCME didn't have that meeting. I wonder why. Boggles my mind.

Beginning of the year our parent company dropped our options of different companies and can now only use one, Cigna. At least in years past when the rates increased we still had decent coverage (I had a different company from Cigna). This time it not only increased but we now have worse coverage.

Dems would argue that these price increases were happening anyway, and that their bill will save you from this in 2014. O'Reilly, OTOH, was using this to snipe at the health care bill.

As predicted by anybody that actually paid attention to what that disastrous bill had in it and what it's true intentions were - to make a "crisis" even worse and force insurance companies out of business.

You simply cannot force by rule of law insurance companies to cover much, much more and essentially pay out more and expect premiums to not skyrocket. It's common sense.

Yep. Everyone was having their coverage dropped by their employer before this bill.

Who does the average voter blame? The company dropping you, or the guy who made them drop you? Fewer dots to connect the more believable something is.

In this case, your argument might not stick with the voters.

I think its sticking quite nicely. 55-60% want this bill fucking reppealed.

Its not hard to figure out when this shitty bill is passed and 6 months later your employer is about to drop your coverage. Talking about "connecting the dots" like its some sort of CIA covert-ops thing is a load of bull. People know exactly whose fault it is.

Ahh yea. Rates have been going up a long time now and some places have offered extra money instead of insurance. Its even a option at IBM that my wife can now take no health care for extra money.

My wifes coverage stayed the same and so did ours. Normally health insurance goes up every year. I doubt anyone could possibly be seeing the effect of the healthcare bill this early. It won't even be fully implemented till something like 2014.

Anecdotal evidence. Mine stayed the same.

Thats it, keep that head in the sand. Obama can do no wrong.

"EAU CLAIRE — If you get health insurance from your employer now, Peter Farrow, Steve Weld and Jeff Kowieski say to enjoy it. In 2014, that could change.

The health insurer, lawyer and accountant have all looked at health care reform, formally known as Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. And on Tuesday, they left over 100 people representing Chippewa Valley businesses with this conclusion: It’s a well-intentioned law that falls short."

"In a stunning revelation Wednesday, several top U.S. corporations are seriously considering dropping employee health insurance coverage in light of what they see as the inevitable consequence of ObamaCare--skyrocketing costs."

All just anecdotal. Nothing is changing. Keep on goose-stepping

My post said nothing about rates going up, rather companies considering dropping employees entirely. Try again

I'm sure for a while we will be experiencing knee jerk paranoia from employers and attempts to gouge while they still can insurance company tactics. But at this point I don't really give a shit anymore, we have had 20-25 percent annual cost increases and ever worsening coverage for at least 5yrs where I am at, so anything is better than status quo

Every company I have ever worked for except my current company has given this option and guess what? The extra money they give you is nowhere near the amount they were spending on your insurance. Shocking, I know.

I'm not sure why I even bother since you're a grade A troll of epic proportions ...

This is the first year in the last 5/6 that my insurance plans (copays, benefits, etc.) haven't either increased in cost or decreased in pay outs.

In case you weren't paying attention, premium costs are rising at a much higher rate specifically because of obamacare. It's common sense, you can't force by law insurance to pay out much more than they had been and not expect their money in to increase (premiums).

So far mine hasn't changed but I have a huge employer who, I would hope and think, will be among the last to get pushed into higher rates by insurance companies because we have a lot of weight.
