health insurance question

A buddy of mine (college student) is getting married to his girlfriend of four years. They are both college students but live off campus. Now since they income bracket is fairly pathetic (both part timers) are there any ways to get cheap or free health insurance (keep in mind the colleges insurance is expensive and fairly poor). Any help would be greatly appreciated, they live in Rhode Island if it helps. THANKS!

you get what you pay for

no money/no income - consider applying for medicaid
if they are being financially supported by their parents, dunno if they would qualify for medicaid.
can they get coverage under their parents "family" policy..they should check this out.

Doesn't most colleges offer some sort of discount health insurance?

In Tennessee, we have a state sponsored plan that they might qualify for. It is the equivalent to what I have heard described in socialist countries, but it is cheap or free. Does RI have a similar set up?

If they are not going to be able to afford health insurance, maybe they shouldn't get married yet. Just my $.02.
