#14 bootlegger club from Jimmy Johns. I think they have it listed at around 600 calories. It has a little more sodium than I would prefer, but the burrito bowl you listed is higher. I like chipolte, it is probably my second choice now that the Qdobe near me closed.

Forgetting about the nutritional side of things for a minute, it seems to me that at least the meats/protein you get at Chipotle is fresher than you can get at Subway. Of course, the price points are also different between the two places so that's sort of expected.

Any burger place that will serve a burger without the bun is usually okay*. Just stay away from buns and fries. Mexican places are all over the map. The national chains tend to glop up the food with high salt-high fat sauces. Roach coach Mexican is usually healthier.

*Excepting the western bacon double cheeseburger; there ain't no way to make that healthy.

I go to Wendy's and order 4 Junior Cheeseburger Deluxes and remove the buns. If I'm especially hungry I'll also get a Large Chili with onions. For only the former it's $4 + tax; including the latter it's $6 + tax.

The fact that people think Chipotle is healthy gives me the giggles.

Subway or nothing (and only the healthy subs. No meatballs or salami, for instance). My personal fav is the Subway Club - beef, ham and turkey - on honey oat bread, all the salads and a tiny line of honey mustard

cosi is my favorite. then probably jimmy john then subway. i wouldn't call chipotle "healthy" at all for the simple fact of how much sodium is in their food.

I usually get a burrito bowl without rice. Beans are fine. I opt for the black beans, because supposedly it has some ant-oxidants that are cooked out of the pinto beans.
I opt for the onions, lettuce, salsa and sometimes cheese.

Avoid: Tortillas. Crunchy tacos if you absolutely must.
Rice
Sour cream
Avocados. Fat is fine, but there is a ton in there.

I like Flame Broiler as well. A tad too many carbs because of the rice, and the sauce has some saturated fats, but otherwise, it satiates for a few hours for only a several hundred cals. (550-ish).

I've heard a bunch of people say the same thing about Jimmy Johns but I'm not seeing it. I've been to one down the road from work a couple times, but it doesnt seem any different than subway. That's not a bad thing, as I don't mind subway at all, but I don't think its any better though. I guess I'm just not seeing why it is considered better.

The stuff from Subway feels extra processed.

The food from Jimmy Johns seems very similar to what I make at home.

I'd agree with Chipotle as most filling for the $. Not sure about healthy, but some of the stuff that's bad for you I don't even like (sour cream) so at least that helps me. I do usually get a burrito and not a bowl though so there's the tortilla. Can't really think of a fast food place that would be any better that I go to.

Avoid the special sauce or anything besides mustard. Too much fat, way too many calories.

I bet one can loose a ton of weight if the only thing they changed was to skip sauce on any burger or burrito or Subway/Quiznos/whatever sandwhich. We are talking at least a few hundred calories.

Say no to tortillas and fries.

As far as drive through fast foods, nothing beats Arby's IMO. Their market fresh stuff is a class above McDonalds and the like. As far as "fast-ish" places I prefer California Tortilla over Chipotle but there are way more Chipotles.

Your friendly local kebab shop.

Grilled lamb, flat bread and a bunch of raw cabbage salad all drenched in chilli sauce.

Subway is decent if you're smart about the toppings. Wheat/Honey Oat bread + no cheese + no shitty sauces (go for Sweet Onion or something else that's low-cal) + water. Runs me around $6.50 here.

Doesn't it suck to have to spend $6.50 for water and a very plain sandwich?

Footlong veggie delight from Subway. Flatbread or 9-grain, BBQ sauce, no cheese. With a bottle of water and a bag of plain chips.

Right, because a big helping of corn syrup is what you want if you're trying to eat healthy...

Mustard is relatively healthy and far better tasting than BBQ sauce on a sandwich.

I really don't see how the Subway Club is healthier than say a Chipotle chicken burrito bowl with brown rice (as long as you don't do anything crazy with the add ons)

If anything the Chipotle meat seems less processed. Both are equally loaded with sodium (but really, eating out means high sodium in general)

What are the healthiest but also the most satisfying quick food joints?

I have to say Chipotle.

Burrito bowl with meat, brown rice, black beans, fajita onions and peppers, and then load it with chunky tomato and corn salsa, topped with a ton of lettuce.

You've got a lot of complex carbs, lots of veggies, fiber, and good proteins. And not loaded with grease or cheese like more authentic Mexican places.

All for about $8. $10 if you get double meat.

People say Panera Bread, but I don't like it. Too many simple carbs with their white breads, salads in general are not very satisfying nor filling for me, and the $8 meal only gets you half a sandwich, a small bowl of soup, and an apple. $8 at Chipotle feels much more filling than $8 at Panera.

I'd like to stay away from the sandwich category of restaurants. The closer to an actual plate of assorted food, the better IMO.

Steamed vegetable platter at your local Chinese place, add lean protein if you like. Or McDonald's Soutwest Salad with no or minimal dressing, plus a parfair for dessert.

Lightly drizzled is not a big helping. If your local Subway is slathering it on, I would tell them to stop.

I ask for BBQ half the time. Considering that most people are getting much more sugar from even bread when you look at volume, about a teaspoon of sugar or a little more in a meal doesn't bother me for the amount of flavor it adds.
