This brawl is interesting. You should be able to do OK with a pretty basic deck IME (as long as you have all the expansions).

Warrior is pretty good since they have a lot of cheap AOE (whirlwind, revenge, Deathsbite) + lots of ways to ping with weapons/spells.

Rogue is in a similar position with Fan, Blade fury, Dark iron Skulker, shiv, hero power ping.

Warlock is good also, Hellfire, Dread Infernal, Demonwrath

Frostwolf Warlord, Kvaldir Raider, Muklahs Champion, Stormwind Knight and Shade of Nax are all great cards for this brawl. Explosive Sheep, Unstable Ghoul and abomination are good for board clears if you don't have a spell.

You missed probably the most important cards in the brawl, hobgoblin (+2/2 for all 1 attack cards, which all your minons are in this brawl), Onyxia (fills your board with 1/1's and in combo with hobgoblin... well it fills your board with 3/3's), and Arch-Thief Rafaam (artifact to either fill your board with minions to combo with hobgoblin, or +10/10 a minion), Alex (nothing like setting an opponent to 15 health, especially if you have an almost full board of 3/3's or just before you fill your board with them...)

Arch-Thief Rafaam (artifact to either fill your board with minions to combo with hobgoblin, or +10/10 a minion)

I don't recommend Rafaam. In most battles that I had, it was VERY rare to even get to 10 mana. There was only one battle that I could recall where Rafaam would've been helpful, but in the rest, he just gave me a dead card.

I was trying to keep the list for common/rare cards since a lot of people are under the impression that this brawl is only winnable with large collections.

That's from 2014, the pity timer was implemented "recently" (date unknown), probably to avoid cases of extreme bad luck.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVhRF6Jk6U8

Oh really?

https://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/comments/3i8bhh/0_legendaries_club/

There were several people that were doing this when TGT hit. Pre-orders for 50 packs at a time and zero legendaries.

There was a thread about the 40 pack myth based on the Taiwan contests on reddit, but there were many posts later disproving it. Nor did the people with the data say they knew for sure the 40 pack thing was real, just that their data showed that no one in the Taiwan contest opened more than 39 packs of the same type and didn't receive a legendary by that 39th pack.

All it takes is ONE data point showing the opposite to disprove that entire theory of which there are some out there. Not many though, but some.

To further the point.

https://www.reddit.com/r/hearthston...n_packs_opening_and_the_best_strategy/cyjwrjh

More with a dev confirmation there is NO PITY PACK!!!

There is an ever increasing drop rate counter though the more packs you open without a legendary drop, but never does the drop rate counter reach 100%. It approaches but does not ever equal that number.

thanks for the tips, for now im just trying for 20 in ranks mode and getting someone to level 20 to open the brawl. is there any reason to keep more than 2 of a card or are they free for disenchanting? Same with the gold cards, any special point to them?

Man, I wish that I would've drawn Deathwing in that last Arena. The guy got all cocky with his 4 health left as he lays down Mimiron. Hell, I would've loved to have drawn one of my two Truesilver Champions to just finish him off! Four health for five turns? D:

There's no reason to keep more than two of a card (or more than one copy of a legendary). Gold cards are just for looks, only keep if you don't have the normal copy yet, or unless you like using gold cards.

I have watched people open 50+ packs on streams and not get a single legendary. There is no pity counter for legendaries. It's a myth.

People spending 200+ dollars and getting 1 or zero legendary draws.

Why do you insist on telling these ridiculous lies?

I'm not saying there is a pity timer, it's really just odds and variance, but the stuff you claim is so statistically unlikely as to be unbelievable. I still remember how you use to claim that you would play in arena games and every turn your opponent dropped a legendary or some nonsense.

What lie? Seriously do you not read the links? Do you not know how RNG and statistics works? It doesn't matter what you want to believe. Either do or don't, but yours beliefs don't change the facts of the matter.

I was not the one spending the money, I was pointing out the claims of others doing so and their experiences with having been screwed by the RNG.

Also, here's a little factoid, those that tends to get screwed tend to be more vocal. Those that aren't having problems tends not to say things. Which is why you can always read more stuff about the bad side of the statistics versus the good side.

RNG for Hearthstone hasn't been all that good to me, but RNG in many other games have. I take it with a grain of salt.

It's a known bug It'll eventually show up. Restarting usually helps.

Question completion not updating properly is another bug that I've seen a lot more as of late. Your quest is actually updating in the background, but for some reason, it isn't being pushed to the client to display... or the client isn't displaying it.

Also, I'd say that Hearthstone isn't P2W, but more or less, P2WM -- Pay to Win More. You can win with basic/starting cards, but decks that are constructed using very specific designs will usually have an advantage against you. We can look at this last brawl as an example. Cards like Onyxia and Hobgoblin were great, but they're legendary and epic respectfully. I didn't have Onyxia and only had one Hobgoblin, and one could propose that given enough games, I could see a statistical rise from having a better constructed deck.

Although, to be fair, you can have the best deck in the world and the worst RNG. If your card draw sucks and your opponent's is simply better, there usually isn't much you can do but "pray to RNGesus".

Already hit 20 earlier in the month so just did the brawl over the weekend.

Only needed one game, was mage-mage and over first three turns just wiped each other's board. Then he played Alex on me. He got a couple more hits in as I was getting a couple more spell cards than minions and he had me at 7-26. Then on turn 6 after he turned me into rag, dropped Alex on him and he took the rage hit with his board clear. He was down to 2 cards in hand before draw and I played AI so had 5, he quit after the rag ball started coming for him. Dropped skeleton king on turn one and it worked out real well, he returned after the first 3 deaths.

On the plus side, finally opened up the 80 classic card packs I had waiting. Managed to get 5 legendaries, BK, tyrion, thalason, mukla, and geddon. Much better than the 1 I got when doing 60 some packs from the previous special. Also got some that I never had like eaglehorn and blizzard.

Still haven't gotten around to playing last adventure but with gold almost at 5k again time to spend some for it I guess.

Bahahaa... I finally pulled off the perfect counter to Sylvanas, I played Majordomo Executus, and then killed Sylvanas with my other minions (which also killed them), giving him Majordomo . Next turn I big game huntered Majordomo and fireballed+frostbolt to kill him (he was at 27 health at the start of the turn, Majordomo converted him into Rag's 8hp).

I think that is only the 3rd time I have ever even played Majordomo, and only had him in my deck because I forgot to remove him from it after doing a solo adventure. But man was it ever satisfying

Not sure I like that at all to be honest. Some of the best cards in the entire game are in Nax and GvG, and simply removing them from play is a stupid idea, especially for anyone who spent money to purchase those cards/expansions (I mean seriously, sludge beltchers, Dr. Boom, KT, annoy-o-tron, mechwarper, tinkertown, unstable portal, spider tank, micro machine, enhanc-o-mechano, goblin blastmage, shrinkmeister, piloted shredder, Mal'ganis, echo of medeivh, muster for battle, quartermaster, shieldmaiden....).

So many decks only work because of those cards.

My friend recently got Legend in the game. It is really fun to watch him play. He describes all the moves he does and even predicts what the other guy will lay down. It is amazing how much knowledge you have to have to compete at the higher levels.

Wild mode will still be around to use all your cards. There will be 2 ladders so you can choose which mode you want to play (or do both if you have no life).

Time to focus on buying GvG packs with my gold for now... they still get me the most dust per pack value.

We will probably also be able to disenchant Naxx cards since they will become craftable... not that I'll do it but it should be possible. Most Naxx are good or atleast decent though... Anubar Ambusher is probably the most useless one, followed by Maexxna?. Will personably be glad to see mad scientist gone.

Can't say I like most of that announcement. Seems pretty crappy to take out so many cards and expansions from the game like that. And to a point it becomes more P2W as if you come back after a break you will need to fork over $$$ to get a current deck viable.

Overall it feels like to help the newb they are seriously screwing over the long time casual player.

Without these changes, if you came back from a break, you'd have to spend even more money to get currently viable decks.

I personally like the new changes, should keep the game fresh. While I'd be more happy if we could still continue to be able to purchase older packs and adventures... I can see how the shop may look too daunting to new players in that case, esp. in a few years.

One thing about the rotation though, the last expo/adv to be released in a year will have the least playable time in the standard format. This will be something to consider when people playing in standard want to craft cards.

i can see how veterans with hordes of card may be pissed but me as a newb is pretty pleased. ill concentrate on classic for now and the new expansion when it comes out. in the end, the vets probably have enough gold/money to be at the top anyway.

This is a change for the better. Wild is still available for the current game style but as more expansions are released, things will get out of hand and we'll see more OHKs and other broken things. By limiting the cards in Standard they can release new cards and not have to worry about balancing them against older expansions. Otherwise they would be limited in what they could put into the game and the newer expansions would have to be bland with only a few good cards. The bad part for those that play wild is that the game won't be balanced around wild.

You can play both leagues but only get rewarded for the higher of the two at the end of the season. And if you play both you split your 18 slots between them.
