I absolutely hate arena... My drafts are absolutely horrific 3 times out of 4. Then I draw well two games out of six, and somehow manage to scrape a 3-3...

I really don't know how the streamers do it. I've watched them make mistakes that I would never make, and some of them can't even count. But they seem to go at least 5-3 every time with little to no issue...

In reality, the better ones understand how to play a lot better than they let on. Guys like Trump draft and say "well, this is a very below average draft" and go 7-3, while I will get what I consider an above average draft and go 5-3.

At some times though, I am infuriated with the level of players I get matched up against vs some of the streamers. I am fairly certain Haifu is legally retarded, yet she can get 12 wins in arena...

I haven't gone 0-3 yet, but I'm sure it will happen. Also, remember, these streamers play a lot of games.

Upcoming Hearthstone Beta Patch
Blizzard posted the changes coming to Hearthstone in a patch later this week today. If you are interested in the reasoning for these changes, see the full post on Hearthpwn.

Unleash the Hounds - Cost decreased to 2, from 4.
Pyroblast - Cost increased to 10, from 8.
Blood Imp - Is now a 0/1 with Stealth. At the end of your turn, give another random friendly minion +1 Health.
Warsong Commander - Whenever you play a minion with 3 or less Attack, give it Charge.
Charge - Cost increased to 3, from 0. Give a friendly minion +2 Attack and Charge.
Abusive Sergeant - Battlecry: Give a minion +2 Attack until the end of turn.
Dark Iron Dwarf - Attack buff only lasts until the end of turn.
Defender of Argus - Attack decreased to 2, from 3.
Novice Engineer - Health decrease to 1, from 2.
Sylvanas Windrunner - Cost increased to 6, from 5.

I'd rather see Argus' effect tuned than the card itself, but otherwise I like the changes.

Can't say I mind the changes. Blood Imp might be a bit overboard, but other than that I'm okay.

Hounds, change should have been like this when they changed the card before, was absolute crap at a 4 cost.

Pyro, not surprised other than that it wasn't done with the other mage changes.

Argus & sylvanas, no real effect.

Sarge and DI dwarf, doesn't totally screw them but will likely have them been swapped out of many decks.

Blood imp, kinda sucks. On one hand you can have a minion now get several health bonuses but it will really nerf the low cost rush decks from locks and don't know of many that play them any other way.

Warsong & charge, will be interesting to see the effect on warriors as they went from meh class to a OTK possibility and this is a pretty major retune.


Engineer will probably see it dropped in favor of the 2-4 version.

Sargent hasn't actually been changed at all, I'm not sure why it's been mentioned in the patch notes. The attack bonus from it already expires at the end of the turn.

I think the Sergeant change is that it can now target both friendly and enemy minions instead of just friendly minions.

So, now it can be useful to push an enemy unit into SW death range, or to force it to kill your Sylvanas or give a totem an attack value so it will enrage your unit when you attack it or something like that...

Seargant was a text edit only change so it matches the dwarf. I never really played the sarge because of the short duration, so won't be playing the dwarf much now with his.

The majority of the final round of invites to the Hearthstone closed beta test have now been completed - We have now directly flagged most Battle.net accounts that have met both of the following criteria:

The account was opted into the Hearthstone beta test before January 7th.
The account does not have a Hearthstone license already attached to it as of January 7th.

Never got the email but right after I sent a ticket I got the game popup in my account lol.

And yesterday I got Ysera in my 3rd pack

so i installed this last night as i noticed it was on my bnet accnt (i was never sent an email about getting into the beta)

installed fine did its opening deal. gets to the screen and says "click to continue"
i click nothing happens, click all over the place and nothing
i can open my friends list and the settings but cant actually get into the game

Yeah it's a known bug.
Just wait a couple of minutes at max and it'll start.
And same thing will happen during the 6 tutorial games. Between each game there'll be a delay.

After that all is well!

Yeah just wait a bit and it'll fire up.
And if it's your first time playing you'll have to do the 6 tutorial matches. They're pretty quick to go through except that between each matches it's the same "waiting bug". Nothing major.

On my side I had to wait under 1 minute.

After that all quick and cool.

Woot. Just got in beta myself. I played for a couple hours last night.

I have really been trying to settle on one of these new card games to replace MTG and this might be it. I am guessing there will be a pay-to-win factor. Can't escape it these days.

As sick to death as I was with World of Warcraft, this is fun.

Question, I haven't seen any rarity on cards. Are there common,uncommon,rare,legendary?

Right now I have my Mage cards then just a bunch of generic it looks like.

I could ask many more questions but, ill shut up and play.

Also Ysera herself isn't bad but my god the Dream cards are absolutely insane. It's absurd how good they are and how they cost almost nothing to play.

Yeah! Ysera was the first Legendary I got after my first 3 "free" packs when I started the beta 2 days ago. How lucky!

So far the Dream Cards are great. I got a look at 3 or 4 different so far and all have helped me a bit.

But my level 19 Paladin is struggling hard. I only play Casual so far to test my deck and I have a 50/50 ratio...not bad but not good either.

All my decks are named: So Close, Not quite, Almost There lol

Just an FYI, Casual is basically designed to get you a 50/50 win ratio. Your MMR swings pretty fast on a win or loss, so if you win or lose a few games in a row, you are rapidly placed in the deep end (or the kiddy pool).

It is actually easier to get wins playing in ranked mode, at least until you hit the rank you belong at (based on your current skill level and deck). Although, this is less the case so soon after a ladder reset since so many good players / decks haven't ranked up yet.

If you liked MTG I wouldn't really recommend Hearthstone. Hearthstone is just too simplistic. It took me around 3 games to learn the game. Then about 30 to really figure out how to play. Each game is basically playing the odds of what your opponent could have in his hand (similar to poker). Deck building is weak and doesn't take a lot of thought. The arena drafting so far is a horrible experience for me (though some like it). But overall I feel that Hearthstone lacks the complexity that games such as MTG enjoy.

Hearthstone is great at having very close games that come down to the wire though. It's very well balanced.

Heartstone designed to have minimal cards on the board along with a short deck. That's why if someone draws significantly better the game can quickly go down against the other player. Another reason why so many play rush type decks even though blizz keeps trying to nerf them.

You make an excellent point ikachu and I often ask myself why not try ranked.

I think I'll do that next time I log and try my deck as is and see how I fare.

But in Casual I thought you were rankd based on your character level? Not that is saying much...

Other tip request: What is your card ratio in a deck? My Paladin as maybe a 60/40 ratio of Spells/Units...and if I have nice cards soon I tend to easily win but when my starting hand is Ysera and 2-3 5+ cards it's not good...
