I went 5/3 on my first arena, was glad it ended. It felt too much like gambling. Too bad it's the best way to earn rewards, but I won't be doing it again I don't think.

This game reminds me why I hate CCG. Everyone takes 20 minutes to play a single turn.

Some of these cards are just infuriating to go up against. Druids have Naturalize which costs 1 mana and just kills any minion. That's insane.

Also Ragnaros is an asshole. As soon as he's played I might as well concede. Why don't they limit the # of legendaries you can have?

yeah a lot of Legendaries are hard to deal with for players just starting out

have to either buy lots of packs or grind Arena

my Arena decks tend to be better than decks I can create outside of Arena at the moment because of greater access to class specific cards beyond the standard 20 you get after Lvl 10.

Naturalize is an awful card imo. giving two cards to the opponent to destroy a minion for 1 mana is a massive cost.

So I was playing an arena round this weekend, and I had a mage deck I was fairly happy with. Turns out that having five fireball spells in a single deck isn't an unmitigated blessing. My deck was rather creature-light, so in most of my matches, it took a few turns to establish board control. In one match against a priest, I thought I'd gotten myself into a postition where I was ready to start really taking over the game. Then he hit me with two thoughtseized fireballs, doing lethal damage to me. I'm fairly certain the look on my face was priceless.

Innervate into a fat minion is so tough to come back from. Turn two Chillwind Yeti, turn three Druid of the Claw, turn six Ironbark Protector. F U druids

Also I swear to god Tinkmaster turns me into a squirrel every time, I never get the dinosaur at least lol.

Yeah Tinkmaster can be an asshole. I love him in my Pally deck. Power up a 1/1 Silver Hand Recruit and Tinkmaster it! Worst case you end up with a 1/1.

And Druids...hate playing agaisnt Druids...and Mages. Waiting to release Rag or Ysera when you know the player still have 1 Poly or Naturalize is a pain.

Played a few games last night that were within a turn at the end. It seems there's a flow to the game where either side does well at some point and then the tide turns as good cards come out of the other.
I've been having good runs with Gurubashi Berserker. First turn hit a 1/1 to increase his attack. Then use healing spells and such on him. Blessings of Kings (Paladin) will let him survive all but the biggest minions. Of course then there's spells like polymorph.

I've faces rag between 6-10 times. Probably only lost twice in that span. 2 games I remember was face miping it and then destroying his, and another didn't bother it cause I had several minions out and went with RNG being in my favor and finished off the opponent before rag could do much damage to my hero.

A basic priest deck can deal with legendaries fairly easily. Either Shadow Word: Death them (most are 6+ attack) or Mind Control. Last Rag I faced I MC'd and that was fun.

I had a weird occurence last night in ranked. Priest vs. Priest. Turn one we both play Northshire Cleric. Turn two, I kill his with SW and he immediately concedes.

Had a mage drop in round 2 last night. Dropped a leper, he coined to kill it. Dropped a faiery dragon and he bailed.

Turn 2 you should have attacked his cleric first, to give yours 1 damage before you cast sw:death, so you can heal it later and draw a card. Of course it would have been redundant that game since he conceded, but in a close game the one extra card can make a different.

Man this is one of those love hate addicting games. Luck seems to prevail over deck building. Any time you think the game is in your control expect to be completely countered in 2 turns especially if you are past turn 5......

Exactly! How many times I downed a player under 10 health while I was still at 20+ and BAM, lost to some effing powerful combo...

And man my ranking, still can't go better than 17...
Skill is not my friend in HS...

there's definite RnG involved but there's also definite planning and consideration to account for RnG and be better prepared

Yeah I know that and having played and still playing card games (Netrunner, Magic a bit) I'm aware of this and don't blame the system at all. It's just a temporary frustration when it happens. I just move on to the next game and try to do better.

That's why i'll always love CCGs, you have no other choice than to work with what you have. Sometimes it's for the better and other times the worst.

got to Rank 14 with this Mage deck that currently only has 4 cards from Expert packs and no Legendaries. probably going to have a hard time continuing to move up Rank though due to players having Legendaries, better card quality, and/or better focused deck due access to larger card pool

Forgot to mention I got the dancing floating minion bug for the first time. I've had floating, and I've had dancing, but never one that does both. Opponent played a minion which was then his only one on the board. As soon as it was placed it floated over on his side. It was then my turn and his minion started moving from being just above his side of the board till the minion was actually at a position slightly above his character portrait, and then it slowly started moving back to where it started from. Luckily I simply destroyed it as my first play, would hate to have it been difficult to deal with later.

Also have had a problem lately getting daily quest again.
