Quote from Blizzard
We’re drawing near to the end of the beta test of Hearthstone! We wanted to remind you that Golden Gelbin Mekkatorque, illustrious gnomish engineer and reward for helping us test our in-game shop, will no longer be available once the game is released.

In order to get your hands on this card for your Hearthstone collection, simply purchase an Arena entry or pack of cards from our in-game shop during the beta, and Golden Gelbin Mekkatorque will automatically be added to your collection. It’s that easy!

Once Hearthstone is released, you can still craft the non-Gold version of Gelbin Mekkatorque using Arcane Dust.

Grab this gilded gnome today, before he’s gone for good!

How close to the end of the beta are we? Don't need an exact date, because I know that would be horrendous, but is this a matter of days or weeks or months?
I can't say exactly, but it is soon. Not months.

Does this achievement double for the Hearthsteed too? any word on the WOW mount?
We have not made any announcements regarding the Hearthsteed. This only affects Golden Gelbin Mekkatorque.

If launch is on the horizon, does that mean all the bugs that've been around for months will finally be fixed?
We plan on a large patch with the release of the game that addresses many of the bugs players have been experiencing.

That means that [Gelbin Mekkatorque] will dissappear from my collection? Because i have it..Or i will keep it?
Golden Gelbin Mekkatorque is only available to acquire during the beta testing phase of Hearthstone by making a real money purchase from the in-game shop. Once you get him, he is yours forever. Non-golden Gelbin Mekkatorque will be available to craft with Arcane Dust.

Oh, any word on whether or not this means the iPad version will also be "not months" away, or is that a completely separate release?
iPad is considered a separate release.

Will the patch that you mentioned in this thread earlier also contain balancing of cards?
We'll have a full write-up of what is contained within the patch on patch day, but we're also planning on posting something up here on the forums that'll spark some discussion in the community before that. Stay tuned.

Starting with the next patch, 500 ranked wins will earn a golden hero for you, complete with animations.

Golden heroes will be animated, and their hero power borders will be changed to gold. Unlocking golden heroes will require 500 ranked wins with that hero; Wins will only count if they are obtained after the next patch.

Doesn't really matter if it's beta or not, the game won't change much going into release will it? I'm personnally waiting on the first expansion so you don't have 75% of gamers playing the same deck.

Curious to see how they will balance. I will say the same thing I've been telling my friends who play, every rare card needs a +1/+1 boost because currently, too many of them are easily bested by common or basic cards.

Any word on a trade market? I'd rather not dust uniques I don't play but most of the dragons for examples are useless. I have the 15 second a turn effect and the put opponents HP down to 15 but both have such a high mana cost that their effects are moot so I've been holding them to try and trade for lower cost cards.

There will be no trading and supposedly all balance changes are done.

Working as intended. A card isn't supposed to be stronger just because it is rare. Rare cards are supposed to be more niche type cards that won't fit into every deck, or the really big and flashy cards, but not necessarily stronger cards. If rare cards were simply outright stronger than common and basic cards, the game truly would be pay2win.

Never thought of it that way, that's a good point I had not considered.

Honestly, it makes me consider picking up a Windows 8 (not RT) tablet! :$

The Surface Pro 2 (or whichever one has real Windows 8) doesn't actually look that bad.

I've no need for one, as I have two iPads in my house, but it still looks nice.

Plays Hearthstone great in window mode, not the greatest in fullscreen mode.

Thinking about it...I can't believe people actually play this game with a mouse.

I was thinking of something cheaper like a BayTrail-based tablet, but I have no idea if they can even handle Hearthstone that well!

I've been playing Hearthstone mostly on my crappy Brazos laptop (E2-1800) and it runs fine, so I imagine it'll run on Baytrail as well.

Last night I had a hilarious game. I was a mage against a Warlock. So at the earliest time, he uses his coin and plops down Gelbin Mekkatorque, which summoned the Poultrizer. Now at this point, I had no minions alive as he used his only active minion to kill mine (and killed itself in the process), so the only things on the table was the Gelbin and the Poultrizer. I simply hit my hero power and did 1 damage to the enemy hero and ended my next turn. At the start of his turn the poultrizer turns the Gelbin into a chicken

He plays a Taszzdinga taunt, and attacks with the chicken. I use my hero power and kill the chicken and don't play any cards again. The next turn his taszzdinga is turned into a chicken. I use my hero power kill the chicken, and use a fireball on the enemy hero. This turn he doesn't play any minions. I hit him with my hero power, and end my turn, and the poultrifier turns itself into a chicken. I then play a hill giant and the 3/2 that does +1/1 to a minion. He pulls out a taunt. I play a stormwind and another 3/2 that does +1/1 to a minion. He rage quits...

man...those fucking priests...

Guy laid down the 3/5 taunt dude, I didn't kill it (cuz I had 30 fucking health so I didn't feel like I needed to). I don't have any taunters on the board.

Then he did....
+2 str, draw a card
+double health
+double health
+make attack = health

Attack for 34 dmg, GGPO.

Well, while it might seem okay to leave it alone, you are giving him board presence and what sounded like an advantage over you (even without the ridiculous buffs).

You know... this game is based on (World of) WarCraft, so I'm rather surprised that Blizzard still allows players to stack buffs all crazy like that. The only real defense that you have for this is a transformation card (poly, hex, etc.) or a return-to-hand card. So, it wouldn't surprise me if Blizzard ended up changing the game to reduce the number of buffs per minion or make it so certain buffs cannot stack.

Although, some might argue that it ruins the craziness factor of the game!

The crazy buffs aren't a problem. It is him giving up board control to allow the priest to do silly things like that. Establishing and maintaining board control is the easiest way to win most games.

I had 2 other minions on the board w/o taunt, so I was okay with taking 10 points of damage or w/e. But 34 in a single turn is kinda ridiculous with no opportunity or ability to respond (unless you had taunters or counterspell)

This was like Turn 6 or something

All of that happened in one turn, so the only counters are have a taunt ready OR a counter spell ready OR leave no enemy minions on the board. And even if I had a counter spell, he still would've shaved off 20 points (counter the first +2 def, which means 5x2x2 = 20 attack)

Except, this wasn't all in 1 turn. He played the taunt and you left it alone. Anything he played in the next turn was essentially protected by that taunt, for the most part. Had you cleared that, he wouldn't have had a minion to buff.

I guess, but this is super situational. Sure, IN THIS CASE, it did not pay off to leave him be. But would you really use a polymorph on a 3/5 taunt? Or use both your minions to clear 1 taunt? Imma guess NO.

I was actually really comfortable with the situation...until he turned a 3 attack minion into a 34 attack minion.

Maybe I'll have to adjust my playstyle against priests to leave no minions on the table, who knows.

I don't get the math on it.. 5 + 2 = 7 * 2 = 14 * 2 = 28. Where did the extra 6 damage come from?

What did you do with your two minions the turn after he played the shieldmaster, just sit there with them? What did you play on your turn? What cards did you have in hand? What class were you?

And, you lost to a gimmick that required 4 cards to pull off so stuff happens sometimes. Decks that rely on that are not going to be very consistent.

guessing PW Shield for 3/7

divine spirit 3/14
divine spirit 3/28
inner fire 28/28

Abusive Sergeant for 30/28

need 6 specific cards to set this up

guy hit the lottery to have all this by T6

Gah... rank 15 and the only decks I run into now are stacked with legendaries. It's quite depressing. Every effing deck has at least several the following in them:

Nat Pagle
King Mukla
Ragnaros
Onyxia
Malygos
Cairne Bloodhoof
Gruul
Hogger
Illidan Stormrage
The Black Knight
Sylvanas Windrunner
Tinkmaster Overspark
Ysera

Most of the decks have at least 5 if not more of those legendaries along with the class specific legendaries and epic cards. Way too much try hard going on with these decks. I literally mean every deck has those going on. I play my mage burn deck and can win, but I have to have a perfect draw and the other person a slightly less than perfect. Which is really hard for them to do.

That's the one thing about this game is the massive reliance on legendaries as they are far and away usually better than anything else you can put into a deck minion wise.

Think 16 is the highest I ever bothered with yet, decks getting so full of legendaries/epics that one with mostly common/rare not cutting it.

Although in one of the last games I played, dropping a sheep on rag and ysera just after they were played was pretty sweet. Opponent dropped the 2 mobs that made all minions cost more, a pretty good strat for a mana cost heavy deck. Too bad I got all my removals early.

Look up reynad's aggro warlock deck. It doesn't use any legendaries and is pretty powerful. It's by far the most popular deck I've been running into lately.
