Hm... just looking at the hero power abilities of the first three bosses, it looks like Faerlina (fires one missile per card in your hand) and Maexxna (returns 1 random minion -- 2 on heroic -- to your hand) will both need aggro or zoo decks to beat them.

Wonder if the AI is run on the server. Not sure why there's the delay.

Yes. The server validates pretty much everything.

The first 2 on heroic were pretty easy. The 3rd one I had to try a few tactics, but freeze mage ended up working on the first try.

Played a short bit this morning before heading out. Servers responding much better.

Swapped from my lock deck after losing again in my first match to the hunter and completed all of normal and the druid class. First boss with >2 locust swarms and shadowbolts can be a bit tricky. I know I'd love to have those locust swarms in my deck.

Hero power for all 3 are something I'd easily want for my chars. A 3-1 spawn, avenging wrath on the cheap with damage modified by opponent hand size, and ability to move a card back to the deck (go ahead, buff him!)

Druid class challenge was fun. Almost used the kill all and make them 2-2 trents card but held off. Did enjoy dropping an ooze and then giving it +4 health/taunt.

Only thing that sucks is that you don't get quest credit in adventure mode.

Also it looks like there is no way to pay ahead with gold for all the wings, have to wait until it is open for that option to appear even though you can buy entire thing now with money.

Of course, they don't want to you pay with gold, so they are not going to make it convenient. This way maybe you'll run out of gold by the time the wings come out.

i beat pretty easily the 3 bosses in normal mode with a tempo warrior

then i did the class challenges

but then i tried the heroic boss and well...
1st turn, ring, and he uses the heroe skill and WHOA! wasnt the spider supposed to be a 3/1? its a fucking 4/4 fuuck
2nd turn another 4/4

now im screwed...

couldnt beat him, having a 4/4 every turn without using any card spending 2 mana was too much for me to handle, and the boss has 45 hp

Tried a murlock deck, a zoo deck, my tempo warrior deck and i tried a silence/flamestrike mage deck but i lack some cards to make it worth... couldnt beat it

My plan is to focus on minions with charge, and something else that I noticed yesterday. If you look at my screenshot above, you'll see that I have a ton of those oozes. How did I do that? I only started with two ooze cards, but they create clones and Maexxna kept sending one back! So, that gave me an idea... why not use minions that summon other minions? If Maexxna is going to send two back, and she sends a minion with a summon back, then I get more creatures on the board!

I think those combined with some good charge minions would be quite potent. Also, Maexxna's hero power sends two minions back and it's free. I was watching TotalBiscuit try it with his gimmick decks last night, and the thing is... she did it every time. That means you can use charge minions and not potentially lose them. So, all I can say is...

Leeeeeeeeeeroy Jeeeenkins!



EDIT:

Although, my only worry for using summon minions is that I could end up with a rather full hand if she starts ending back the summoned minion. For example, during the Rogue class challenge, I used the 2/3 that summons the 1/1 ("Don't mess with tusker!"), and the 1/1 ended up costing me 1 mana to put back down.

Yeah, I think part of Maexxna's difficulty is that she "cheats" by playing random, high-powered cards like the Sea Giant. I don't know if she was REALLY LUCKY with that new 1/1 hunter card, but she eventually played King Krush against me during the class challenge!

I had trouble using mage against the first heroic boss, the 4/4 power was just killing me... so I decided to use priest and went with light wells, clerics, that 1/7 taunt, lightspawn, inner fire and divine spirit etc.
Really cheap cards, didn't use any legendaries or high mana cards.

Used the same deck to knock out the 2nd heroic boss. Now on to the last one...

anub being able to have 2 4/4 on board at end of turn 2 a bit absurd if you get anything other than a great starting deal.

So far I was able to do everything but heroic pretty easily. I'll have to try heroic next time I'm on.

Ok managed to beat heroic maexxna as well. Took me about 10 tries trying different heroes until I settled on hunter. This is what I did:

used the 2 dmg secret to flood her board with 1 dmg minions.
This fills up the board so she can't summon anything stronger.
Then use unleash the hounds, timber wolf. I had one timber wolf which she managed to send back to me both turns but that doesn't affect damage output any.
That's it... you can easily kill her once you're setup.

Kill command and hunter's mark+ arcane shot to destroy that shade she summons
Filled the deck with cheap cards with battlecry heals and charge. Had the owl for silence just in case.
Didn't bother with putting animal companion and multi-shot since they're too random.

I'm sure there are better (and easier) ways but I don't really have that many cards.. so had to manage with these.

didnt have much time yesterday but i managed to beat aneub'rekhan (or whatever) with a priest deck like the one Vivendi said...

just defend until being able to have a lightspawn with a the card that doubles hp and defend it 2 or 3 turns to hit for 30hp and win

So I beat the heroic challenges.

First two were relatively easy. Last one was tough. First one I beat with a warlock. Second with a warrior. Last was beaten with a druid.

Druid relied on cheap battle cry minions, which would then get sent back to my hand by the enemy hero power.

Otherwise, I don't think I"m going to buy the expansion. The bosses weren't that interesting and it was annoying to play against. More fun playing random people.

I know it's a little biased for people here, but would you guys recommend me get into this? I don't get a lot of free time but it looks fun.

I've also not had a lot of experience with card games, so there's taht.

I don't know what mode you play, but without all of Naxx, you won't have access to all the new cards. Do you play a lot of arena or just have no interest in those cards?

It can't hurt to try since it's free. The game starts you off with a tutorial, but keep in mind that the tutorial only gradually opens up aspects of the game to you. I think the game is fun to play, but you may feel a little "cheated" if you fight against someone who has some awesome cards that you simply don't have access to... yet.

I need to take a look at the class battles. I beat the normal playthrough. The legendary you unlock isn't too bad. I can see it being useful in a priest deck. Sure you can silence it to counter, but in the priest deck, that forces the opponent to use one of their few silences, and then you buff it with 2 double healths and attack=health for a 32/32 on turn 7...

Yea it wasn't that interesting... I'll be buying it though just because of the cards.

And I guess blizzard knows that that people will shell out money for just cards, so they didn't put that much effort into it. I was disappointed considering single player is always awesome in their games.

yeah, it wasnt such a good expansion.... for 700gold its quite expensive to tell you the truth

i have been the whole week saving my quests gold to buy the next wing when it comes out... so i guess that 1 week's quests for 1 wing (which means you get what... a pack worth of cards) its a bit too much

This isn't a real expansion. Those will come later, that's why they call it an adventure.

Which means god only knows how much they'll try to charge for those.


I'd still like to see some type of cooperative play mode added.

Played 6 games yesterday to go through my quest, went 5-1. Using some of the new cards tossed into my lock deck was fun. One of the best matches was against a hunter that dropped maxxena (sp?), I facemip it. He uses his to kill both of them, on my turn I then drop mine.

Would love to see how that card plays in a priest deck where you can heal up that massive 8 HP starting pool requiring the opponent to use hard removal on it or it will wreck havoc on a large number of minions.

How do you guys get your characters leveled up so quickly? Been playing a Mage off and on for about a week and I'm only level 22 or so. Seems to take ages.

My deck sucks. Just been using basic starter decks I've seen online as I haven't spent any real money on the game yet to buy gold.

The game itself is fun but the waiting is pretty horrible sometimes when playing public games. I have conceded several games just because I just don't want to wait a full 60 seconds between turns while my opponent can't make his friggin mind up.

You don't buy gold. You can purchase things for gold or real money.

The game itself is fun but the waiting is pretty horrible sometimes when playing public games. I have conceded several games just because I just don't want to wait a full 60 seconds between turns while my opponent can't make his friggin mind up.

Just take the enemy's turn to relax a bit... maybe browse the web a little on a second monitor or something. Unlike a lot of competitive games, Hearthstone doesn't require your constant attention. However, since you should have your next turn planned out when ending your current turn, you ought to consider whether your opponent's play will disrupt your plan. That sort of points out the biggest thing... you shouldn't just rush into every turn. For example, if a Mage tosses down a secret, are you just going to foolishly rush your beefy minion into a potential Vaporize? Secrets are probably the best example to use there as they usually require you to consider the best way to play your turn to avoid the smallest repercussion.

For example, I'm playing against a Hunter and he tosses down a secret. I've only got a few options... Snipe, Freezing Trap, Explosive Trap, and Misdirection. What is it? Well, how many minions do I have on the board? Only one large one, then it's probably not Explosive Trap. We're probably dealing with Freezing or Misdirection as a counter to the large minion, so let's toss this cheap charge minion down instead (cheap minions can also counter Snipe). I actually had one game where I was pretty sure a Hunter put up Freezing Trap when it was actually Misdirection.
