Why wouldn't you screenshot the deck at least. Something to prove you're not making this up because frankly I don't believe it.

Because I was so pissed off at the time and dealing with a crying child in my arms too that I was trying to feed while playing. I just hit retire, got my stupid deck and turned off the PC.

And why is the RNG so hard to believe with this? Trump had one of his initial streaming runs when the game was first released with a mage draft deck that had something like 6 fireballs and 8 frostbolts. He got his for all win run with that bullshit.

the ugly thing is that then i see streamers like guardsmanbob or simcopter1 draft not so great decks (super not-balanced in mana curve or at least comparable to my kind of drafts) and i see them go into the 6-9 wins range

and i hate myself for being so bad at the game and not wanting to admit it

I've had 12 and 13 win streaks with arena with only so-so draft decks. It's all RNG on your draw if you have an only so-so deck. Basically the other person didn't get the draw they needed and I did.

But on the flip side I've been bitten in the ass with shitty draws even when I have a good arena draft deck.

Then I get arena draft bullshit like the last one I did with the most retarded offering of cards.

And why is the RNG so hard to believe with this?

Because the odds of what you're saying happening are so unbelievably low. Between this and the time you allegedly faced a deck with 7+ legendaries and a bunch of rares, I'm finding your stories hard to believe.

Also, a simple print screen for the decklist would have sufficed.

I just utterly destroyed a rogue (who also was a golden hero with over 500 wins in ranked) with my priest deck.

I was first and played one of the Northshire Clerics. He didn't play anything. I then played my Unstable Ghoul, and smacked him with the cleric. With that play, he just sat there forever (moving over his cards, and hero power), and finally when time was running out popped his hero power, but didn't attack (since it would have just given me something to heal and get a card while he would have lost more health).

I then played a Dark Cultist (on the other side of the ghoul, so he couldn't just use betrayal and kill the cleric with it), and hit him for 2 more damage (one each from the cleric and ghoul). He pondered for a bit, and then played the coin, a sap on the ghoul, and a betrayal on the Cultist to kill the cleric (so it cost him 3 cards to get rid of my first play), and hit my hero with his knife.

I played another Dark Cultist and attacked him with the one I had out (so he is now down to 24 health). He plays a 2/2 battlecry each player draws 2 cards murlock. Hits me with his knife, and pops his hero power again. I kill the murlock with one of the Cultists, heal it with my hero power, play the Unstable Ghoul again, and hit him with the other Cultist (he is down to 21 health). He plays Loatheb.

I play a Auchenai Soulpriest, use my hero power to do 2 damage to Loatheb, kill Loatheb with one of the Cultists (both dying, with it giving the other Cultist the +3 health), and attack him for 3 damage with the Cultist (he is down to 18 health). He plays a backstab on the Soulpriest, the combo do 4 damage on the soulpriest to kill it, a betrayal on the Cultist (killing the Ghoul, which does 1 damage to the Cultist), a Pint-Sized Summoner (2/2), and attacks the Cultist with his knife (don't know why, down to 15 health).

I then play another Northshire Cleric, play the do 2 damage/heal 2 AoE (killing the Pint-Sized Summoner, and healing my Cultist to full health, healing my priest back to full health + giving me a card), and play inner strength on the Cultist, turning it into a 7/7, and smack him down to 6 health (due to 2 damage from the AoE plus the 7 from the attack). He finally pops the miracle starting 4/4+draw card on spell (and I am guessing is hoping for a miracle low mana taunt or a big game hunter), and plays a backstab on the Cultist, then a Bloodmage Thalnos, then the return card costs 2 less, then the Bloodmage Thalnos again, then a preparation, then kills himself (never getting that low cost taunt or big game hunter he needed).

I also started saving up my gold in anticipation of the new card decks. I think I am up to over 400 gold now.

Especially when it is another KT

Seems to me KT has too much health. He should probably be only about 5hp, maybe reduce mana cost a bit for the drop in HP. It gets very hard to clear the board when he has 8HP and bring back the rest.

So I came back to this game and tried to play with my LVL28 Mage and I can't win a game for shit. I even decided to try some lvl 1 characters for the quests, so I tested a lvl 1 Warlock and Hunter. Well lets just say I played 20 games and everyone had some serious rare cards I couldn't do shit, I got destroyed. Is this game seriously pay to win? How can I even get ahead when everyone at my level has cards that are 10x better than mine. I can't get any gold because I can't win a damn game anyway.

It not pay to win, it may be pay/play shit tons to have lots options on how you win. But you can beat anything with cheap ass hunter, zoo, shaman decks that have no legendaries and no or next to no purples. But you do have to play decks that have synergy. You probably can't just fill a deck with random minions and expect to take many games off people who have constructed decks.

play Arena and build up gold

That's his point, he can't win games to complete quests and get gold to do arena.

As far as winning with some barebone decks, here is what I would do as a new player.

First off, level up a deck against the AI until you get all the basic class cards which I think come in at level 10. Leveling this way is slower, but has a lot less frustration.

Then there are some simple decks you can make that give you a slightly better chance of winning against the major constructed decks. These decks won't tip the scales in your favor to give you a 50/50 chance, but should bring you up to 30% chance or so to win games at least.

Mage:
2 fireball
2 polymorph
1 arcane intellect
1 arcane missile

These are the "free" mage spells you get leveling up to 10. The other mage cards you get free will be gold ones, but they take awhile to get. Here are the common mage cards to try to get if you can.

2 flamestrike
2 frostbolt
1 mana wyrm
2 frost elemental
2 sorerer's apprentice

Those are the basic class cards that fill in the deck. From there you are going to look for certain neutral cards. These are good mage specific common neutral cards.

Amani Berserker
Acolyte of Pain
Raging Worgen

These are OK mage neutral cards due to spell power bonus

Kobold Geomancer
Ogre Magi

The ones below are neutral cards that can fill in just about any deck.

Chillwind Yeti
Boulderfist Ogre
Senjin Shieldmasta
Shattered Sun Cleric
Worgen Infiltrator
Acidic Swamp Ooze
Harvest Golem
Faerie Dragon
Abusive Sargent
Dark Iron Dwarf
Earthen Ring Farseer
Ironbeak Own
Spell Breaker

There isn't a single card over common in that a setup. You should be able to win at least 30% of the time with a mage deck that includes the freebies I gave you above and a set of the mage and neutral commons after that.

Of course good rares, epics, and legendaries only make that deck that much better and bring up your win chance.

I suggest looking at JerkyGunners and LJ's arena deck building tier list and using those as guides on how to help setup up a basic constructed deck to a degree. It will help you in picking more power neutral and class common cards for any particular deck.

Here is the link to JerkyGunner
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0AhaXYbyLVAVodDRrbXZCUzVNNWs0bzI0a09aaF9iRnc&gid=6

And here is the link to LJ
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10YJ7KfR0KlR057zat2lV9wvRLWLD0eTcdU7NtR4xiKs/pubhtml#

I use those because they are currently the only up to date tier lists for arena draft for "pro" choice cards. Again they are mostly another player's opinion on what is better or stronger. Bear in mind though that the arena tier lists I gave above usually pick strong "solo" cards that aren't always part of combos unless they combo well with the hero power. In constructed, building a good deck around strong combos means you might pick some cards that are rated lower in an arena draft setup because those cards are vastly more powerful as part of the combo than without.

ummm... Let me think of my warlock deck

Warlock specific cards:
2x1/3 + taunt demon
2x Do 2 damage or if demon give 2/2 spell
2x give a minion +4/4 this turn, minion dies at end of the turn spells
2x kill friendly minion and do its damage to all enemy minions spells

2x undertaker (from the expansions)
2x drill sergeant (or whatever the 2/1 + battlecry +2 attack to another minion this turn)
2x the 0/2 eggs+deathrattle summon 4/4 minion (from the expansions, so will cost maybe 600-1200 gold as I forget if it was in the first or second wing)
2x knife thrower (rare, I think cost 100 to craft)
2x acidic ooze
2x loot hoarder (might cost 40 to craft)
2x harvest golem (cheap rare)
2x 3/5 sludge (from expansions)
2x murlock tidecaller (I think that is it, the 2/1 that summons a 1/1)
1x 2/2 orc commander (whatever it is that gives all minions +1 attack)
2x 4/4 gain +1/1 for each friendly minion on the board
1x stormwind champion

Almost all those cards are either free or free with the expansions, with just 4-6 exceptions, and those exceptions are usually pretty cheap.

This will win quite a few games. Between the undertakers getting buffed by all the deathrattle cards (loot hoarder, harvest golem, sludge), the spells AoE board wipe spells for sacrificing a minion (possibly one that you buff with the +4/4 spell which you use to attack something like their hero first with and then kill it to clear the board), the buffs from the stormwind champion to all your other minions, the 4/4 that gains +1/1 for each other friendly minion, you have a lot of decent attack, and should be able to maintain board control as long as you don't get AoE wiped too many times. Card draw is a little lacking, but you have your hero power to help some with that. Just remember to not pop your load too soon before you get a chance to combo off your minions on the board from the undertaker and the 4/4.

FK,

If he just came back from not playing, he may not have Naxx done. Which is why I was listing cards to pick that weren't from there.

Not to mention your deck has a bunch of rares, and a few epics of which the guy was complaining he didn't really have.

I beat all of the bosses on normal, I see there is Hard and heroic, both of which I doubt I could do.

Also my main gripe is, I have to wait till I have 4 mana before I can use fireball. What pisses me off the most is when I see people who use cards that do the EXACT same thing and they only cost 1 or 2 mana. Heck I have seen cards that cost 0 mana that deal damage to minions. I've gone against people who just fill their decks with these cards, it wipes me out.

LOL, I just killed some poor Druid online with my Mana Wyrm. I cast it on the first turn and expected it to die instantly, but between my Mirror Images and a Frost Nova he never could get rid of it. It was 9/3 when I finally killed him.

I read an interesting note in an interview on IGN about one of the new Goblins vs. Gnomes cards:

One of my favourite things to do is use [Recombobulator] with Shadow Madness, which allows you to temporarily take control [of an opponent’s minion with three attack or less], but if you take control and then transform that guy it doesn’t go back.

Honestly, I never would've expected that, but I guess it makes sense. The "return to owner" effect is most likely an invisible action that occurs at the end of your turn (like Ragnaros or Kel'Thuzad). By completely changing the minion, that action isn't there anymore. I assume the same would work if you polymorphed it, but it makes me wonder if silencing it would work too.

I believe silencing it returns it to the other player immediately.

I would have to look at the effect when shadow madness is used, but I believe it is something like 'keep minion until end of turn'. So, when you silence it, that effect ends, and it returns to the actual owner. When you recombobulator it, the effect isn't removed to return it to the owner, the minion is completely changed and has no memory of who it belonged to previously.

I love that effect. MC someones minions for the turn that has a deathrattle spawn, use minion to kill another of his and the spawn stays yours after the turn.

All I have to say is I had another complete bullshit round in the arena last night. Typing up the story as well to match the video I recorded of it this time. Once I get home tonight I'll finish compressing the video and upload it as well along with the story. Unfortunately I wasn't recording full games, but I did try to catch some of the bigger bullshit I was running into.

I've got ~3k dust set aside for anything I need to craft right away. Going to start setting aside the gold I make too. Hopefully have 1-2k before the expansion, probably depends on whether it comes out before or after Christmas. I'll probably drop $10-$20 on top of that just to speed it up. Should be fun with all those new cards.

I've saved up 700 gold already. I don't have much dust (maybe 200), but I do have a fairly useless legendary that I can get 400 from (Tinkmaster) which I got like 2 weeks ago.

i dont know if dusting "regular" legendary cards is a good option.... after all you will start buying GvG packs

you wont get anymore chances on getting those legendaries again unless you start buying regular packs again... or craft them once more

Hopefully we'll get to choose which pack we get as an arena award.

I was reading the latest blue posts, which included some discussion on that, and they seemed rather hesitant to implement the ability to choose.
