My only worry about taking that approach would be having too low or an empty hand. Your deck doesn't really have any card draw, but you do get cards from Thoughtsteal.

Thoughtsteal, Chromaggus, resurrects, powerword shield.. more than enough extra cards so far.

I just had the funniest win I've had in a long time.

Playing the deck above against a druid. I go first and mind vision the nefarian in his hand. I play it turn 1 and get naturalize and swipe. He plays his nefarian and then uses a naturalize on the one I played. I steal his with mind control next round. We go back and forth a couple of rounds of countering each others cards out there. He uses another naturalize and poison seeds and ended up getting healing circle and holy fire from his first nefarian play.

He has tagged me a couple of times when I draw and play Chromaggus. Next turn I draw power word shield. Which I play on Chro to get him to 6/10 and draw another card. Which I draw my other power word shield. I play another shield and draw divine spirit. I play another shield and get my other divine spirit. I play out my final shield and get inner fire. Which leaves me with enough mana to double him up twice for now. So I end the turn with a 6/64 Chromaggus. I also still had a 6/6 temple enforcer out as well so he decides to deal with that first and also throws out his 8/8 ironbark taunter. I draw a power word death next turn. I pop his taunter and buff Chromaggus all the way up to 256/256. Right before I attack he concedes though. Oh well. Never had a chance to make a 256/256 critter in this game before in open play.

This brawl screams for having 2 face mips in you hand and always attempting to draw both at start.

Do you get anything besides a free pack for brawl? After my win I am out until the next brawl.

Nothing more after first win for pack. You do get quest completions and of course 3 wins for 10 gold. On top of that, if you leveling a deck it is worth more experience in brawl than otherwise. A loss in brawl seems to be about as much exps as a win in any other open game and a win is like double that in brawl.

The brawl this week is probably good for priest, but I also found warlock to be a brutal killer with the right cards. I can't tell you how many games I have won with a turn 1 Dr Boom/Rag and a turn 2 Alex. Or a Deathwing turn 1 and Rag/Alex turn 2 (need to get lucky you next card draw since you dump your hand for the Deathwing turn 1, but it isn't bad especially if you go second since it kills their turn 1 card and you only lose 3-4 cards). And warlock's higher cost kill/clear cards are not as big a deal since you start with 10 mana.

I have also used a Mage, and Alex is just automatic death combined with a few direct damage spells I put in the deck.

What the hell is up with mind vision on the first turn and getting the coin? 33 wtf times in a row now!!! been counting since I've been brawling and it's getting annoying as hell.

I remember you mentioned some highly unlikely arena draft last year, and I didn't believe you back then either. Please post some proof.

If the kind of RNG that you say happens to you happened to me, I'd be recording every hearthstone match.

It seems like the theme of this expansion is hero powers. Some cards gain a bonus when you use your hero power, others enhance your hero power. The most notable ones are a cost 4/5 neutral legendary that adds a random spell to your hand when you use your hero power and a 6 cost 6/3 neutral legendary that replaces your hero power with a better one:

https://bnetcmsus-a.akamaihd.net/cms/gallery/8c/8CX41J9AMONE1437609579290.jpg

I think they also realized that a few small areas have been a bit weak for a while, and they're trying to add cards to incentivize them. Probably the biggest example that I've seen so far is Shaman cards that buff totems. There's the Draenei Totemcarver that gains +1/+1 for each friendly totem. She's a 4-cost 4/4, which means just one totem is already a great effect. Although, to be fair, what that really means is that she's a more restricted Frostwolf Warlord (5-cost 4/4 that gains +1/+1 for any friendly minion, including totems) that costs 1 less.

The problem with Draenei Totemcarver and Frostwolf Warlord is that they're bad cards when you're behind on the board. However, dropping a 4 mana 4/4 on an empty board isn't that bad compared to dropping a frostwolf warlord on an empty board.

Well, today I decided I wanted an extra pack or two. My daily was priest domination, so being the guy I am I went into brawl mode and made up a priest deck. I proceeded to win the next 10 games straight until I finally met another priest and got a crap draw. I then played enough games today to get 30 wins for another pack of cards. Won approx 90% of the games I played with the deck. I mean seriously, it is just brutal...

Alex
Sylvannas
KT
Dr. Boom
Rag
Chromaggus
Nefarian
Rend Blackhand
Ysera
Deathwing
Vol'jin
2xFaceless Manip
2xSea Giants
2xThought Steal
2xShadow Word Death
2xResurrect
2xPower Word Shield
2xLightbomb
2xMind Control
2xMindgames
Majordomo Executus

And I forget the last card (sorry don't have my game open to see what I put in there possibly a mass silence. EDIT: I remember now Majordomo Executus, played him 3 times and he saved my butt all 3 times). In anycase, between Alex, the Manips, resurrect, Rend Blackhand, and Mind Control I take control of the match on turn 1. So many people start with playing a legendary that it isn't funny. Depending on the legendary, I will either manip it then kill it, mind control it, play Rend to kill it (assuming I have one of the 4-5 dragons in my hand).

I am surprised how few times I have faced someone else who has played Alex during this brawl. I think I have faced it 2 times, once it was the last card in his hand (he had a force max tank out, which he used to hit me down to 8 hp). I had Yersa out on the table and had a return minion to opponent's hand, so I played Dr Boom, word of death'ed the force max, and returned Alex to his hand (since to play it again he would either need to heal me or put himself down to 15 hp while I had 13 attack showing on the board plus the rng 2-8 damage from the bombs). Felt sorry for him since he popped his load with that, but I simply brushed it away. He played it again and healed me with it, and I returned the favor by playing KT and killing his Alex with Dr Boom and a boom stick and healed myself with my power (he quit after that).

I had some many moments that made me laugh and cry at the same time today with this deck. So many people thought the had me. Another great one was playing Mind Control battle with another Priest. KT was the target (as he played it, so I Mind Controlled it), he Mind Controlled it back, I played Sylannas and killed her with Word of Death, which stole KT back and resurrected Sylvannas, he mind controlled Sylvannas, I play resurrect and got Sylvannas and killed it again with a second power word, stole back my previous Sylvannas, faceless manipped KT, and the 2 KT's resurrected 2 more Sylvannas. He quit...

Well, I personally care about the mobile bugs (admitting that he has pulled out his phone while on the "white thrown" taking care of number 2)...

So I bought the pre purchase pack, because... 1. Cardback 2. I'd eventually be spending money on packs anyways.

In any case, I feel I owe blizzard after how much fun I had playing Brood War and WCIII, and comparatively how cheap those games were when thinking about a decade spent gaming on battle.net. So I don't mind spending money on hearthstone now (so far).

Hearthstone is getting very expensive, and complicated, for a casual game:

https://games.yahoo.com/news/hearthstone-getting-very-expensive-complicated-193002141.html

I sort of agree on the expensive part. My only real beef is with the cards that can only be obtained by playing the Solo Adventures.

I recently started playing on the EU server (mostly so I could play multiple matches at a time - one on my computer and one on my tablet). I wanted to do it without spending any money so I figured I would put together a cheap aggro deck and just make do with that until I could get some more cards. I'm a pretty damn good Arena player as well so I figured I could earn plenty of gold that way to buy basic packs.

What I quickly learned unfortunately is that it's damn near impossible to create an even slightly competitive deck without some of those cards that can only be obtained in the Solo Adventures. At 3500 gold a pop for each expansion, even with a high arena win rate, its going to take some real time to get a decent ladder deck. For a new player who certainly would have no luck at all in Arena, and a poor win rate in constructed, it would take months just to save up the gold to buy those expansions.

Is this all sort of mitigated by the fact that shelling out $50 for a game with the amount of replay value Hearthstone provides is still a pretty damn good deal? Sure. But nonetheless, its becoming much and much less viable to call this a 'free to play' game.

Well the last brawl I had a great time with my priest. With about 100 wins all fairly rapidly and fast, I made a a nice quick bit of gold doing it. I won far more often than I lost even when I had really lousy draws or some of my crappy RNG.

The current brawl being pure RNG based frustrated the crap out of me last night. took almost 20 games before I even got my first win. I get annoying crap like wisps and millhouse manastone as my portal cards while my opponents were getting opening things like Troggzor. Getting Troggzor out on turn 2 is basically a free win with this current brawl setup. Getting Millhouse Manastone is basically a loss. I tried another 10-15 more brawls after that first 20 and won 2 more before just blowing it off.

One disturbing trend though I've noticed lately is the hackers playing. I know of a couple hacking app that allow you to see your opponents cards and I can tell the use is starting to get a bit more prevalent. One good example I had the other night. I was playing a hunter and I have Mukla on my deck for shits and grins. With coin I got him out turn 2 on an empty board against my opponent. I also happened to have an ironbeak owl in my hand to silence whatever minion the opponent tries to banana. So what happens? No bananas. Even when the opponent cleared the board, was left with 1 attacking minion and PLENTY of mana to toss on two banana's to deal extra damage to me the person doesn't. It goes on for 7 or 8 turns like that until I was finally forced to use my ironbeak on something else. I was being stubborn about not using it until he toss out the fruit on something. Soon as I did he plops down both bananas even if it would have won him the game earlier had he done so. With that bizarre game play behavior I knew he was playing around my cards, and that wasn't the only instance in the game, just the major one I remembered.

So I looked up to see what cheats/hacks may be out there, found one, tried it, and saw how it worked. Bleh retarded to play that way. Part of the reason I stopped playing League of Legends was the script hackers were getting really proliferate. I can deal with 1 or 2 every so often in a week or two, but running in several in a night is annoying me.

Me too. Bought it through my Amazon Hearthstone app because I got a 1,000 coins back. Plus, the coins I bought were discounted 20%.

Interesting. So, what anti-cheat programs does Blizzard run in the background?

Warden. Doesn't mean it picks up everything. Only the stupid people who play on patch day with an out of date hacking app or get caught in a hack roundup for various reasons.

The companies don't care THAT much so long as it isn't affecting their bottom line, but when they get annoyed enough they tend to do things like pay out the makers of the hacking app to turn in all their clients or other crap. Happened with league of legends with the LeagueSharp hacking tool.

Anti cheat apps are like locking the front door to your house. It is a measure to keep honest people honest and rarely does anything to stop or deter the determined.

Currrent brawl is infuriating with the pure RNG aspect. In one match, opponent gets Tirion, Ysera, and V'oljin; I get a magma rager.

Is the grand tourney an expansion or is it just a new deck? If expansion, we have to buy it or purchase with gold right?

Same as some of you, had a blast last week, not too much this week.
It would be cool if they left some old options were you can choose the tavern mode.

Is the grand tourney an expansion or is it just a new deck? If expansion, we have to buy it or purchase with gold right?

It's an expansion (not an adventure) with 130 new cards, like GvG.
You can buy packs with coins or real money.
