Started opening packs, opened about 40 packs before disconnecting from server. Can't get back into the game yet. All tables full!

No legendaries so far... but I've got another 30 packs yet.

Ugh on the arena match making for me still.

So I had a pretty decent warlock deck I made last Tuesday. Didn't have much time to play it, but played a game Wednesday night and Thursday night winning both. I was 2/0 and had some time to play Friday night. I end up with 3 losses in a row to ridiculous decks again. Last one was particularly bad as it basically was me against a priest and we both ended up with no more cards really left to draw. Why was it so ridiculous? Well here is what I remember off the top of my head the priest having.

3 shadow word pains of which he had in his hand early on to keep my board down.

2 annoy trons and 2 shield mastas.

2 dark cultists and 3 velen' chosen buffs

All those were following with Cairne Bloodhoof, Sylvannas, and Voljin. He also had 2 light bombs to clear my late game board. He also got lucky with his thoughtsteals and stole my Siphon Soul twice, an Azure Drake, and my Shadow Flame.

Top that off a faceless manipulator, a couple resurrects, and 3 temple enforcers and it was a massive pain in the ass to maintain parity with him throughout the game. We both were at around 13 health when I ran out of cards first and he had 3 more still. I had board control with an abusive sargent and a darkscale tidecaller while he had nothing. But he drops a temple enforcer with a velen chosen again at the end and I was drawing dead. So I conceded that last one.

I ended up sending him a friend request and asked what his record was so far. He was 11/0 and after that win on me. WTF?!?!?!? Why am I at 2/2 during prime time Friday night being matched up against a 10/0 priest with 3 legendaries, 3-4 epics, a crap ton of good rares and commons? The other two I lost to previously weren't as bad as that priest, but they were still fairly stupid decks.

Side note:

I'm not the only one having this problem of screwed up arena match making. Another large thread on reddit about it from both sides. People are polling those they win or lose again where the decks seem so disparate in power. There are quite a few like me who only seemed to get matched early on to people that already have 8+ wins and others that never get matched up to anyone that only has 4 or less wins regardless of how many wins they already have. Something is a bit fishy there.

50 packs opened. One Legendary. LOL. So many duplicates, I will probably get a ton of dust out of it. One card, I think I got 10 copies of it. Glad I have a good job because that was a colossal waste of money.

Yeah card packs are just so much random that it is hard to say they are worth it. What I would rather see are days that there are discounts on dust costs for cards, or it be a reward for playing arena or purchasing card pack (i.e. you can craft 1 card for 1/2 dust).

That said I have enough saved up for about 65 card packs. Wonder if I will get anything.

50 packs opened. One Legendary. LOL. So many duplicates, I will probably get a ton of dust out of it. One card, I think I got 10 copies of it. Glad I have a good job because that was a colossal waste of money.

That's what it was like for me with GvG packs. I bought 80 of those, and I got so many duplicates that it was just ridiculous after a while. It wasn't uncommon to see two of the same common cards in a single pack opening!

Finished my 80 or so packs. Got 6 legendaries, Gold Ronin, Gold Anubarak, another Ronin, Fjolr Lightbane, Dreadscale and Skycaptin Kragg. Much better then my GVG opening when I got Gold Neptulon and 4x Blingtron.

It is just RNG.

I am debating spacing out opening my packs or just going at it. So much of it depends on the RNG implementation. For all we know, it might not be entirely random. Many things that seem to be random are in fact not, but it takes a LOT of analysis to prove it (some examples are games like "The Legend of Zelda" where you think item drops from enemies are random, when in fact they are not. There are two counters that come into play, the drop category of the enemy killed, and the weapon used to kill it, as well as the fixed "luck" of the gamestate which is a set pattern starting from the time the console was reset which changes every frame of video. Over the years people have figured out ways to ensure getting certain drops from killing certain things on certain counts at certain times, including forcing a 80-90% drop rate on bombs on the 10th kill of the game which gives a 100% bomb drop if they use a bomb to kill certain enemy when that is also on the 10th kill counter (assuming you didn't pick-up the 16th kill in a row being un-hit faery, as that resets the 10 hit counter which would then make the 10th kill after that faery... Long story short, there is a pattern and not actual entire randomness).

I opened 50 packs and got two legendaries: Dreadscale and Skeleton Knight. Skeleton Knight is pretty lame given its attack-heavy stats, and it's also a 7-damage minion, which means that it can be BGH'd. Dreadscale might work in some decks, but probably only in something like an anti-aggro mid-range Hunter. The thing is... has anyone seen a mid-range Hunter lately?

Overall, out of 50 packs opened (250 cards), I dusted 93 of them. If you count the number of golden cards that I received, I have around 100 duplicates. That means over 1/3 of the cards that I received were worthless, which is pretty crazy when you consider that I was starting from nothing (i.e. any card in the beginning was acceptable). D:

Lol, I used some of my spare dust to craft an Eydis Darkbayne and put her into my Control Priest deck with 2x PWS, 2x Velens and she just completely shuts boards down, I love it, I got her double velens/pws against another priest and he just couldn't take initiative at all. I'm running a janky Control priest deck that uses Shrinkmasters/Cabals+Kodos. No one expects the Shrinkmaster Kodo.

Yikes, and I felt bad opening my 65 packs and only getting 3. It would be nice to have a higher frequency of epics/legendaries since once you put in about $50 or so you'll have all the rares (missing maybe a handful) so it's not worth purchasing any more, especially with this expansion that seems to have a lot of weak legendaries.

The legends I pulled were the warlock, shaman and justicar trueheart. Not that bad, I was hoping for Varian the most but I can always craft him if he becomes truly good. The paladin and druid legendaries would be nice but aren't must have.

I'm happy with my epics, I ended up getting my most wished for including twilight guardian, mulch, lock and load, mysterious challenger and shadowfiend. I only got one copy of both but if I ever decide to use any in a deck at least I won't have to craft two. The only other epics I wanted were elemental destruction and dreadsteed but it doesn't matter now since they're not usable in any decks.

My "how did I end up getting this" award goes to 2 golden copies of clockwork knight.

I think both of the Twin Val'kyrs would be excellent in a Priest or Paladin deck. Unfortunately, I did not get them. However, I do have enough dust to craft one legendary!

Well, I got 7 legendaries out of my packs:
3xDreadscale (Hunter useless)
1xThe Mistcaller (Shaman, could be very good)
1xGolden Aviana (Druid, could be very useful especially combined with coin, innervate, etc)
1xGormok the Impaler (could be useful in a dragon deck)
1xChillmaw (thinking useless unless you need to boardwipe an enemy low health zerg, but by the time in the game you can play this, you would already be dead)

So I now have approx 5k dust (dusted all the goldens except for ones which I didn't have the deck limit). Not sure what to craft at this point. There are a couple legendaries that might be useful, but there are a bunch of epics that I should probably get since I know they are useful as opposed to the situational legendaries.

I am looking forward to trying out "The Mistcaller". It still won't help much against a rush deck, but +1/1 to all your minions that you have not yet played is pretty interesting.

I was trying out a Totems deck tonight, and someone linked me this deck, which features The Mistcaller. You might be interested in giving it a shot.

For example, cards like Mana Tide Totem and Vitality Totem can be a bit weak. You don't really want them in the early game as they'll just get destroyed. Also, Ancestral Knowledge is just a poorly designed card. It's an effective 4-cost card (2 now, 2 next turn) and draws 2 cards, but if you compare that to a Mage's Arcane Intellect (3-cost, draws 2 cards), it seems rather weak. The only extra benefit would be if I have Unstable Elemental out.

So for my ten packs I held I ended up getting 3 golden and a couple epics I didn't have. Everything else was common junk. For the 50, one massive legendary. Skeleton king. And about 8 more golden cards. Did get enough rare/epics to make a shammy/pally deck and mostly did pally inspire/joust while playing.

First game was against a priest where skelly managed to survive 3 deaths before he got MC so I had to kill him. Game was long like most of the night and went deep into fatigued for him.

One of my best wins of the night against another priest that turned his heal into damage then played the mech that heals for 8. Whoops.


Will have to check the crafting screen later to see how much dust the dupes got me.

One thing I noticed though, assuming the release brought out a lot of other part time players as in the low teens I was coming across people with gold portraits and decks loaded with the good legendaries wondering WTF they were doing ranked that low.

Yeah, but the only negative thing is that Lava Burst should be used efficiently, and using it efficiently requires you to use it on a turn where you currently have locked crystals for that turn and you've already locked crystals for your next turn. That's because Lava Burst removes all locked mana crystals regardless of which turn they apply to.

I decided against putting any more money into packs but did get one with the gold from my daily quests and ended up pulling a 2nd Mistcaller. I'm not complaining since that's basically a free epic of my choice. That's why I might try to reach rank 5 next season (it's too late now). Even if I end up with a bad golden epic I could always DE it for once of my choice.

I was up to around 6500 dust and bit the bullet and crafted Jaraxxis, Malganis and one bane of doom to play Warlock. One nice feature about the patch is that when you craft a legendary they now play their entrance .wav when crafting them.

With the remaining dust I can either craft what I need to build a good Priest deck or Druid deck. I'll probably go with Druid since Priest while fun doesn't seem to get far in the current meta.

Opened 25 packs yesterday, got 1 legendary which is on par I guess. I got the 2 of the ones that summons a SHR so I tried a dudes deck with that Muster and such. It didn't turn out so well.

Best card in the new set is Murloc Knight, by far. I fully expect it to get nerfed- at blizzard speeds... so like 4 months from now.

Turn 3, fencing coach into turn 4 Murloc Knight + hero power is an incredible tempo play. It's not that rare to get a 2/1 charge, or even the legendary 3/4 charge Murloc. Of course you also have a chance to just pull out another Murloc Knight, in which case your opponent should probably just concede. Worse case scenario is a 2/1 or a 1/1 with a buff built into it, which still isn't terrible for a turn 4 play, combined with the base stats of the knight and your 1/1 hero power dude.

Supported with the strong paladin early game- squires, shielded minibots, coghammer, muster, peacekeeper- it becomes very easy to keep the murloc knight alive long enough to pump out several murlocs. You don't even need to put any other murlocs in the deck, although the synergy is there if you want to try a few.

I expect this expansion to make paladin the most hated class, murloc knight has what it takes to dethrown facehunter.
