heat, crashes, old palomino 1900

All of a sudden I'm getting stuttering gameplay and crashes. The crashes sometimes look like a jumbled television test pattern. I was wonderign if the fact my 1900xp is idling at about 58-60C could be the problem. Do you think this is hot enough to cause instability?

Could be, although the pattern you described sounds like video card overheating.

Agreed, although any Athlon XP that's idling anywhere near 60C is not being cooled properly.

Yeah, sounds like a CPU overheat problem due to the CPU temp - although what is described is what usually happens when the video card overheats - it could be the hot CPU making things too hot in your case.
