Heatsink question

I've got a Thermaltake Xaser III case and an Abit Fati1ity mobo with that dual OTES thing. I'm looking into buying a good heatsink for the LGA775 processor but I know there are some issues I need to consider. I was thinking about getting the Thermaltake Tower112 and possibly adding 1 or 2 fans to it, but that would make it huge, and I'm not sure if it would fit in my case. Also, with the Dual OTES, I'm not too sure how many non-stock heatsinks will fit in my mobo. If there's anybody out there with this combo of case and motherboard, please let me know what you've got and how you like it. Thanks!

BAH! cases are for losers, if you really wont the best cooling, just spread it along the top of a desk!

Put the parts in freezer bags, then put everything into the freezer.

BTW, if you want good can quiet cooling, check out Thermalright's selection. SP90 and SP120. Google for reviews.

If your overclocking, get a thermalright xp-120. If your going for quiet (which I dought as the xaserIII is filled with seven Tt fans), get the zalman 7700cu.

There are not many good choices for 775 air cooling. Actually, there are only 2 that I know of. The Swiftech MCX-775 and the Thermalright XP-120/XP-90. I only mention the XP-90 because it will fit, I certainly don't recommend it as a good cooler. The XP-120 is good but only if you run a large and loud fan, it's a very inefficient heat sink and to make up for that it has to be very large and needs a high cfm fan to cool well enough for any serious overclocking. The Swiftech is pretty good, but it also requires the optional 92mm fan adapters and a high cfm fan to cool an overclocked prescott. Don't even consider the Thermatake, like all of Thermatakes heat sinks, it's made to look at, not perform.

I'm not just tossing this out there, I'm running a 3.6es at 4.25 on air using the Swiftech cooler above with a 92mm Delta fan and I hit 62c at full load after about 30min. I tried the XP-120 with a 120X38mm Panaflo and it was about 2c higher at load. I will say that if you aren't planning on overclocking, go with the XP-120 and a slower 120mm fan, it will cool decent and be almost silent.

I've looked into the Zalman7700cu, but I found that in order for it to fit the mobo, I'd need to remove the northbridge heatsink. Would this be alright?

In the meantime I'm going to look into that Swiftech one.

Thanks for the input everyone, keep it coming!

Just in case anybody's wondering, I decided. I'm going to go with boshuter's Swiftech MCX-775 recommendation. I can't really find the fan adapter, so I'm just going to get a Vantech 80mm Tornado and duct it, so there's no dead spot. Thanks for the help everyone!
