Um, got any facts to back that up? The few reviews I've seen show the Swiftech MCX6400-V beating the XP-90 by a degree or two. If you want to argue price, OK, but don't argue that the Swiftech isn't one of the best air coolers out there.

Running gun fight? NTY.

It was and still is VG as stated before. It's heavy but carries the weight low.
It uses an 80mm but can be up-graded to a 92 but at reasonable dB levels a XP-90 would
crush it's performance.. I looked for reviews and most are two years old. At the speed heatpipe developement has progressed the MCX6400-V is dust blowing in the wind. The wind generated by the AC HS providers trying to stay even with the WC HS providers. It would be a non-player in a current conparison test. Such a conparison test would only provide another nail for the coffin that time has provided.
The above is not intended to belittle or demean this fine HS. There are several that post here using dualie boards and used on a dual CPU board they offer a VG cooling solution as there is limited space for just about all the current heatpipe HSs.
If you can,you find a review that does some direct conparisons and if they are relevant, i'm sure lg1999 will link them if appropriate. This is C&C not OT/P&N so thread crapping and running gun fights are not the norm. Both of us should keep it that way.

Here`s a review that kinda puts things into perspective...the swiftech vs the thermalright....
http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=getarticle&number=3&artpage=710&articID=185

Conclusion:

Swiftech has brought their Flower Power heatsink to Athlon 64 platform, and with it they have once again proven that temperatures aren?t everything, thanks to the big copper base of the MCX6400-V it allows for overclocking almost on par with the best out there.

Temperature wise it trails Thermalright?s offering with 1-6°C when using different fans, combining this heatsink with a high output fan will increase the performance considerably, equaling the performance of water-cooling at the cost of high noise.

But don?t worry, even with silent fans this heatsink will be able to keep your CPU from crashing when the temperature out there is rising.

This heatsink can be bought at swiftnets.com for about 55 $ (~ ? 50).

There are other reviews that also state the same thing.

great job... this consolidates the reviews that i'd have to nit-n-pik on 8Dimensional (8D) which at times can be very time consuming... a-five-finger salute for you... thanks...

If you want my opinion, Citarella's reviews at OverClockers.com are the most "scientific" and reliable.

His review of the Ninja -- a month later than the review in August which drove me to the ThermalRight SI-120 -- is most revealing.

The Ninja marginally outperforms the SI-120 at the "top-end" of fan rpm and CFM -- with a minimum thermal resistance of 0.13 C/W in comparison to the SI-120's 0.14 C/W.

But also interesting, I think, is the same comparison at the "low-CFM / low-rpm" (low-noise) level, with the SI_120 marginally outperforming the Ninja -- 0.18 to 0.19.

I still cannot explain how my own setup shows a much lower TR value for the SI-120, but since I would've had to completely revise my motherboard duct for the Ninja -- as opposed to moving "up" from an XP-120 to an SI-120 -- I guess I'm not crestfallen with these more recent results.

You'll also notice another review in which they conclude that the XP-120 and SI-120 were virtually the same with the same performance. But that is a gross error -- born out in several other reviews and independent data.

I've posted a series of observations on my OC'd Prescott system and the SI-120, while we've had mixed "opinions" that AS5 either makes a difference or "cures gradually over time." Earlier, with the identical setup, Mosfet sinks and mobo duct, a room-ambient of 68F produced a CPU idle value of about 89F. It now bounces between 86F and 87F at the same room-ambient.

I guess that dispels another myth . . . .

A colleague who has a water-cooled system reviewed my own results, and agreed with me that single-digit differences from room-ambient in Celsius make anything but CHILLED water-cooling a waste of money in comparison to these new heatpipe coolers.

Last week, I sent my observations at several room-ambients to ThermalRight, concluding in a rhetorical question "What do you folks have on the drawing board for NEXT year?"

Bob, a tech-rep at ThermalRight, wrote back that something is definitely "in the works," that it's pretty good, but he can't let the cat out of the bag just yet.

zest,"The SI 120 is to be discontinued and replaced with the SP 120."

Links? Pics?

If this is true the SI 120 will become a super bargain. I know what the SP 97 looks like,
will the SP 120 have 3,4 or 5 heatpipes. The SP 97 is all copper, so i'm guessing that in 120 form it will be all copper also.

I understand that the Si120 is didscontinued and not being manufactured anymore..the SP120will replace it..

No pics or further info info at this time.

It wil l be similar to the SP 97 which is copper hybrid which is best heatstsink formula.

It will kick ass I am sure.

Interesting news on the SI-120 being replaced. I look forward to the SP-120 then.

In other news, I added a SI-120 review from OCIA.

This rumour about an upcoming Sp120, where do u have that from anyway? seems i bit unlikely since google wont tell anything. where did u hear it, Zest?

e: I emailed to thermalright and they had no fukcin idea what i was talking about, so i think Zest is providing us with misleading info. No Sp120 coming. go back to ur lives.

maybe iam a complete idiot, but every single one of these links will lead to threads from 2004. SP120 was a model in 2004 obviously.
