What is the best value, quiet and good for cooling heatsink for socket 939? I would prefer to keep the cost below $30.

Just though i might add the CoolIt Freezone.I own two of these, and both are runiung with Intel X6800's Ones running stock speed 2.93GHz and my temps at idle are 18c-20c after 6 hrs of gaming my temps were 22c-25c. With my 2nd machine,I have the x6800 OCed to 3.7 my temps at idle are 30c-32c,and under load 36c-38c.To get these temps,I had to change the stock 92mm fan to a 120mm.This made a great improvment in temps.I bought both of mine at www.crazypc.com they are about the cheapest place online you will find them at $299. This setup is a sealed liquid cooling system thats very small, but will beat any system out there, with the exception of Phase cooling[ $700 & up ]. The freezone only takes 15-20 mins to install. If you overclock or just want the best coling at a reasonable price, then the Freezone is the one to buy.

Thats why i mentioned it.I guess CoolIt Systems never sent one for a review. All i know is that it does its job very well.I have screen shots of my temps,so i do have proof of how well it cools. I also have one of their PCI cooling boosters. This was only $19 and it worked bringing my temps from my two 8800GTX's down by 10c-12c.They make really good products, but they do need to change the stock fan to a 120mm with a high cfm.I have a 120mm AC-PC fan on there now,but summers coming,so i just ordered a Deta 120mm with a 158.85 cfm this shound take my temps down to the middle teens, its a little loud, but if it works its worth it, My other machine is close to the same as this one.The only diff is two 880-640Mb GTS's. With the freezone i have on this one,i was able to get my x6800 up to 3.7GHz running stable at 30c-32c idle & 36-38 under load. You cannot find another liquid cooling system that gives you temps like this. The setup is fast and very easy.

My review/comparison of heatsinks normally recommended for being Quiet (Zalman 9500, Scythe Ninja, Noctua NH-U12F):

LINKY

Seems there's a glitch with the display a bit, but you'll get the idea.

Ok, so I'm kind of really out of it as far as cooling is concerned. I've got a C2D processor here, the 6600 model, 2.40GHz. If I run it at full load, both cores, it shoots up to 70C in no time, and I have to set the process to use only one core in order to cool things down. This is with a case temp of 42C.
I'm using the retail heatsink with the thermal compound that was already on it.

I could go for a reasonably priced heatsink from SVC, or some similar place - or would it be just as good to clean off the old compound and use AS5 instead?

I saw the roundup at Overclockers.com, but I haven't been in on the heatsink scene since the Alpha 8045 was the greatest thing around. I honestly don't know anymore what the results there mean.

I've got a Thermalright XP-120; how does it compare to the ultra 120 (extreme?)? Is it worth upgrading to?

How often to CPU coolers become outdated.....I'm thinking about plunking down for a good cooler but dont want to have to buy a new one every time I change processors.
