These people are evil. There is no other explanation for the constant lying, depravity and hypocrisy. Using natural disasters and those affected as political pawns. Disinformation is spewed about every possible thing to buttress their alternative world of fact-free lies and vibes. They court nazis and white supremacists out in the open preying on people’s insecurities.
Yes, they are pure evil.

"Evil".

That is human nature. To divide and conquer. To rend your nation, your institutions, and your bill of rights. To take them from you.
And rationality will not save us. Because people do not listen to reason. They never have.
Reason was just another place to put our faith.

MAGA has replaced American's faith in America and twisted their beliefs into Nazi style propaganda. This is a civil war and there is no peaceful resolution to it. Voting at this point is like placing a small patch over a broken dam. The people will never recognize another election. Because they are crazed zealots. The evidence is all around us, and in every action they take. Every subject they touch. Nothing but Qanon all the way down.

I try not to let the drivel they spout affect me, but this makes me so angry.
We need to be prepared for the action(s) they take next. Stochastic Terrorism feels like an understatement.
They are whipping a lynch mob into a frenzy. It would be proper then, for us to do the same. Anyone still loyal must be ready to put down the coup.

MTG - "Yes they can control the weather. It’s ridiculous for anyone to lie and say it can’t be done.

I’m surprised she resisted the temptation to write (((they))) thusly.

I think they are doing a fine job of dividing, I'm just calling the evil what it is

"Generalize"

That is way over the top. Equating the thoughts of a few with the thoughts of all goes both ways. If people disagree with liberals they are given a label and wind up in your check box.

As far as FEMA is concerned I think they do an overall good job considering their constant lack of resources and man power, but its better than nothing.

But yes, politicizing the response to the flooding disaster is inappropriate and spreading wild claims is harmful to those trying to receive aid.

I don't know how you're coming to the conclusion that this is a few. MAGA is a good 40% of the population/voting pop. of this country.
Trump has completely co-opted the Republican Party. Anyone who criticizes him in any way is ostracized from the party. Look at Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, Mitt Romney is retiring... "normie" GOP politicians are afraid to say anything because they'd be primaried.

This situation isn't just "disagreeing with liberals", it's a fundamental distrust of government institutions (newly exhibited by the FEMA lies, and batshit "weather control" dumbassery), and a ignorance of actual facts combined with a willingness to elect their preferred leader who can then further demolish the institutions that they mistrust.

@Jaskalas I don't necessarily agree with your statement; because throughout our history we as a country have shown that we can rise above the animalistic inclinations that you are alluding too. It's been a long slog to progress to where we are now, but it was on the backs of courageous and intelligent people who won these victories.

This is a whole different level of crazy though. And I referred to the term "evil" particularly because of the behavior of these right-wing trolls (and Trump) blatantly lying about the current administration's response to Hurricane Helene; and those who are saying that the current administration is controlling the path of the hurricane to target right-wing population areas (oh but nevermind Ashville, NC which is overwhelmingly Democratic). They are using people's sufferring and gullibility as political pawns, doing so by being full of deceit. Far too many will see it, and believe it, because they've been brainwashed by far-right propaganda for the past decade.

That is indeed evil.

The latest from these crazies is calling for a full and complete audit of FEMA funds for 2023-2024. They are convinced that the Harris-Biden administration has raided these funds. It’s especially crazy because it’s the Republicans who keep trying to take money from FEMA.

But crazy is as crazy does.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to audit government agencies but that should not stop us from funding it.

Also, I rely on FEMA to be fully functional and operational.

What FEMA usually gets bogged down in is the funding battles that impact all of government. People do not realize that when they are impacted by government shutdowns that flood policies cannot be written using the National Flood Insurance Program, nor can renewal flood policies be issued. This could lead to your bank or mortgage company force placing flood insurance on your property in the interim.

Forced placed flood insurance is only issued for the loan amount which may not be an adequate amount of coverage to help recover from losses against flooding. It also typically costs more than normal flood insurance.

You can switch to private flood insurance if you chose. Those policies usually cost less than government backed NFIP flood policies but they must comply with certain requirements to be acceptable to the lender. These polices must contain a statement they comply with the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012. The agent can certify compliance in writing if the language is missing but not all of them will so it is best to shop for a stand alone flood policy that has it to avoid problems with your bank or mortgage company.

Just stop building in places that can't be insured economically, and get the government out of continuing to support unlivable places. Coasts and floodplains. Hoping this will force people to face reality. Mangrove swamps are wonderful places for all kinds of species of life.

Trump disagrees, vehemently.

Thus his firing of every inspector general government auditor that might look into how Trump was distributing COVID emergency relief funds, as well as any auditor that could look into how Trump was personally delaying distribution of congressionally mandated funds for partisan political reasons.

And you are so close to finding out that there is consistently one political party who is holding up funding for needed services and propping up the insurance industry to allow them to dictate terms for relief (both medical and property).

You are almost there!

Your mouth to God's ears. I oppose building in flood plains unless mitigation efforts have taken place like adding more dirt to the building site to raise the structure above the BFE (base flood elevation).

Even then I still oppose building directly on beaches. Even the Bible warns about building your house on sand. 😉

Mikey isn't his usual 1,000% wrong here. They don't even have all the victims located yet. They have no idea how much aid will be needed other than immediate food, water and shelter. They may have a better idea of early needs by time Congress comes back for a normal session. Why spend money for a special session before needs are known?

The only coverage the govt should provide in these situations is relocation expenses, if it's 'uninsurable' the person needs to move, period.

No, no, the proper capitalistic response is to let brand new fly-by-night insurers, with no reserves, swoop in to take over insurance at exorbitant rates with additional government support, then pay off millions to their owners from those premiums, then just simply go bankrupt at the first hurricane. Handing the bill back over to the government.

Or better yet, cut genuine loss estimates to a tenth and claim that's all they are entitled to.

Stop letting homeowners insurance companies skip "flood insurance" coverage. If they will cover a house for everything else.. they should also cover flood damage.
