how did he learn about the monkeys when he hadn't even talked to the fat blonde. or are we supposed to assume that whole takever was handled during the commercial break or did she tell him before that?

Um if you are talking about the military security guy he was with her the entire time they were looking for monkeys and he found where they were buried outside frozen.

the security guys suck ass.

He is not there for security as it shows fairly obviously but as a dealer for the virus.

someone mentioned peter ripped someone's head off and I saw the events of the previous episode there was a head in a jar. When did this happen? I didn't see any of that....

He did the guys hand to use the chip in it as they deactivated the one in his hand so he could open the doors and we saw them find the body.

Not Balleseros, the army engineer dude - the other guys that were there already as part of security. on a related note though, if he's there as a broker for the virus, why is he helping the CDC people look for these monkeys? Why was he surprised about the monkeys outside? If he's there for the virus, it doesn't make any sense.

I said head, not hand. I saw the hand part. I clearly also saw a head in a jar in the "previously on Helix" part as the beginning of episode 2.

Well you will have to assume they want the guy taken alive as the security guy was the adopted kid of the main scientist there so he is not going to do his best to keep people alive they don't want there to begin with, the cdc people.

Also they mentioned hitting the infected brother with the stun baton and it didn't stop him so it looks like even they don't know how strong the virus makes people.

As for the military engineer guy he is helping the cdc probably to help contain it so he can continue with the purchase and to keep his cover intact with that group.

The monkeys outside part you have to assume he doesn't know everything that's going on as it needs to be a bit of a secret and you can't expect him to know everything.

I watched episodes 1-3 last night and overall I didn't think it was to bad. I did see the beginnings of the "walking and talking" through hallways though. Maybe this is just a Sci-fi thing....SGU and BSG were kind of the same way after awhile.

I'll give it a chance though. I love the science fiction/fantasy genre so any new show that comes out is worth pursuing. They're so rare these days.

Helix premiere numbers: 1.824M viewers, rating 0.6/A18-49

It's not a terrible start, but it's weaker than Defiance. The big question being what it levels off at.

Parts were LAME. Like when they reached the locked room. Their chips won't let them in, but five feet away from the lock there just happens to be a bottle of liquid nitrogen in an otherwise empty hallway. How convenient!

That's just poor writing.

Watched the first 3 episodes. Its not great, but its watchable.
The only major thing that bothered me a bit was when they went looking for monkeys and didnt wear any protection. And the virus test was lame. And RFID embedded in the skin instead of a badge. I guess they wanted the visual of the guy walking around with a chopped off hand.
Otherwise, I'm kinda interested in how it will all play out. I guess each season they will work on a different case?

Ugh.
Bad writing sums it up for the first 3 episodes.
Pretty boring as well, at least so far...

watched ep 3 last night - this show is terrible but I kind of want to see where they're going with this virus.

Helix S01E03 numbers: 1.337M viewers (leet!), rating 0.4/A18-49.

Leveling off here would almost certainly result in cancellation, unless SyFy has a hole in their schedule. SyFy hasn't been renewing in-house dramas with averages below 1.5M, with the exception of Being Human.

While I already said it has bad writing, what the heck is up with the music in episode 4 ?

They lucked out again this week, since most everything else was airing reruns.

Helix S01E04 numbers: 1.39M viewers, rating 0.4/A18-49.

So it's up in the viewer numbers, but only slightly. And not by enough to tick up the rating.

Helix S01E05 numbers: 1.132M viewers, rating 0.4/A18-49.

The rating is holding steady (and that's usually the more important number), but the viewer count is down again.

I like this show. Sure it's not perfect but most shows like this aren't especially when you consider the network it's on. I hope it has some staying power but I doubt it will.

What do I know though...I actually liked SGU.

When will nielsen ratings start to reflect reality? You know, where people stream most of this shit.
http://www.cnn.com/2013/10/28/tech/web/nielsen-tv-ratings-online/

They have. The problem is that most streaming doesn't count because it's not delivering ads, or not delivering the same ads as the TV broadcast.

Remember, the purpose of TV is to deliver viewers to advertisers. People who participate in that cycle are not part of the customer base, at least in a traditional sense.

And keep in mind that the networks already know how often a show is being streamed or purchased, even before the Nielsen changes. The catch there is that ads attached to streams aren't worth nearly as much; people ignore them, and advertisers know it. Only live TV viewing and direct purchases bring in any real money.

I give up. I can't watch this show anymore. I really gave it an honest to god go...but man, it just keeps getting worse and worse. The writing and acting are both terrible. If it didn't have Moore's name attached, no one would give this POS a minute. I'm annoyed that I wasted a few hours with it.
