it tells you: "End of Act X"
[don't blink or you'll miss it]

EDIT: ***************SPOILER ALERT+++++++

JUST back from Hell - *Finished* ... Disappointed ... the END Bosses were nothing special ...you just had to separate the 5 of them apart from each other ... and hell was not 'filled' as an earlier street hints at
 :gift:
[well a couple of hours ... to redo would be one - maybe]

No cut scene .. no ending .. - you just 'win' and get to Unlock "nightmare" difficulty [my engineer is "retired" unless i want to play it all over again as an Engineer - "start over" at Level 33
- and two bugged SQs [which is awesome for a 50+ hour game]
there was no Flay named in a quest in "Paternoster Row" [i couldn't find it on the map] and no "Slaughterbeast" in Cheapside [even after abandoning and re-getting the quest and searching thoroughly].

the story was pretty stupid overall ...
i should be a game story-writer

well, i am going to play it off the DVD ... completely differently
- if the engineer didn't have an invisibility cloak it'd be REALLY hard

FINALLY .... someone *please* ... explain the POINT of playing it online
-with strangers .. no PvP ... do you like the "chat" ... or is it the guilds?
--maybe i just don't get it ... i can't see playing it "free" let alone $10 a month ... and what they give you for pay is pretty weak, imo
:Q

As much as i like hellgate right now, it isnt worth 10 dollars a month for subscription. It keep crashing for me at Temple Station and it is getting on my nerve.
BTW, i only play online because a couple people i know from WoW is playing it too but the chat interface suck big time, so i think i may better off playing on SP instead.

SP is cool ... what IS the attraction of MP?

i am SO sorry i played MP ... just for the frustration of the regular crashing and the being forced to replay over-and-over and forced back to the station within sight of the goal.
i get the cutscenes now and am now Level 7 Summoner at the End of Act 1 .. maybe 2-1/2 hours
[using Smilin's method
:clock:]

and we just BLEW thru the British Museum ... the Emperor and his minions fell within 3 minutes flat ... it is SO cool having 5 fire elementals and a hardcore demon on MY side fighting the demons
- Damn the Engineer is *weak* in comparison

i still can't get DX10 to work ... it just won't fully load ... looks nice in DX9 and runs 50+ FPS [except in the Subways] ... Firefights are MUCH smoother although i did get an 'out of memory' message [i'd better check that partition to see if i have the Win hotfix]

So, I was really into HGL at first, the combat is f$%king awesome. But, I'm just sick of the exact same freaking tilesets over and over again. Level 20 looks no different than level 1.

I hit level 14 on the weekend, but got stuck on the RTS mission and gave up after 4 tries. I'll have to give it a shot again later this week. I have not had any crashes since the last patch, which is fantastic. Still waiting on DX10 though

I see no real reason to play this game as a MP game. The chat is essentially barren plus there is no real benefit to grouping with others since everything scales with you anyway. I can't imagine why you would ever want to subscribe to this game.

Overall I'm still having fun, but I think I will play my next character in SP only.

i feel stupid for playing it online

and a Summoner is so much more powerful then the Engineer [so far] it isn't funny.

i totally ignore the quest text and just head for demon-slaughter from gate to gate ... "perfecting" my Summoner so it FLOWS is the challenge for me and the fun of seeing my handiwork in a masterpiece of destruction [it is pretty cool having 7 or 8 demon minions to do your bidding]

it changes sufficiently to keep my interest .... if you don't like your Char - or screwed up - it can get tedious especially with the added annoyance of online issues and crashes

--thank heavens and the Light Side for "/stuck"

EDIT: How do i get the "dye kit" in the SP?

Summoner blows IMHO in comparison to an Eng, I played one in Beta to lvl 20. I guess it's great if you like to constantly spam resummon every 3 seconds.

Can't get Dye kits in SP, and I haven't found a single one out in the wild in MP, which I thought was kind of something that was promised.

Yeah I was wondering about the dye kits as well. What is strange though is the colour of my character's gear has changed a few times over the course of playing so far.

Even though the pieces are different, the colour of the entire outfit changes every once in a while. I used to be all green, then all black, but now I am all purple. It is almost as if a dye kit was applied to everything.

Well, i am having a MUCH easier time as a Summoner than with an Engineer ... it took forever with the engineer to complete the British Museum ... with the Summoner, we ripped thru the Emperor and his minions in less than 5 minutes

... the "q" and "e" buttons are for quick-calling your favorite pets

You can right click a piece of armor and go to the eyedropper icon - it will change the colors of your entire outfit to match that one piece

Man what happened guys. You couldn't walk through these HGL threads before without getting slurped up in the we love HGL group fondling, and now it's getting pretty negative.

The initial euphoria went away.

Question about multiplayer:
Has anyone found any worthwhile mods? In singleplayer I have mods so powerful I can't even use half of them yet, and multiplayer I've only ever found 2-3 blue mods and 1 legendary. The same applies to the crafters in what they offer.

Before the last multiplayer patch, blue and orange mods were plentiful in Mplayer especially at the crafters, but there was a significant nerf in the amount they show up. Probably a good balance decision, but maybe not as much fun (you do value those orange mods now, instead of having 6 of them in a gun)

As for guardians being easy: they sure are, even in elite one person. But i play my elite guardian in duo only with my friend, and THAT's where you take serious damage, where you're struggling to survive, and when you live through an insane barrage of damage you feel ridiculously awesome, as you used your skills in the right order and moments to make it through.

Did waste one skill point on the aoe taunt as i was going to try out the single target armor debuff taunt, however in duo elite the enemies have ridiculous taunt (and all other status for that matter) resistance, so it makes it worthless. But as a guardian they'll all generally attack you anyway.

Very fun game, but it's definitely a love it/hate it style of game. If you have someone to play with and like the hack n'slash action rpg style, this game is perfect for you.

The one thing I am still frustrated about (like others) is the awful decision to sell subscriptions. I am *all* for buying large-content expansion packs to fund the game, but this $10 stuff needs to go.

What especially peeves me is this - I paid $49.95 for a FINISHED game (minus bug patches) and every feature that was coded into the game as of 10/31/07 should be absolutely FREE for me to use in SP, and for as long as servers run MP. Every single feature! It is BS to advertise features on the box and website, and then either charge $10 to activate them, or not even have them in the game yet and charge $10 down the road when they get around to it! Ri-fing-diculous man!

I'm getting straight up SICK of all the bugs in this game.

I can't remember the last time I actually did a graceful exit from the game. It always ends in a crash to desktop, or an out of memory error (yes I have the patch), or graphics anomalies (infinity verticies, flickering polygons) get unbearable, or a "network error" when playing MP.

The other night I get this quest to join a team of NPCs and go kill some boss. I kill him and this obscene amount of loot drops and I'm all excited about it. It's at the end of the level so my inventory is pretty packed already. I grab one or two items then make a port back home thinking it will take at least 2 full trips to get everything. So I pop back to town and....crash. All loot is lost, quest is complete so it can't be repeated. That is NOT a fun gameplay feature.

A friend of mine had to completely abandon his single player game at level 20. There is some quest in a train station (surprise) where this tech opens a door for you. Well the quest is kinda tedious so he broke off to resume later. Problem is the tech will only open the door once. Apparently this is a pretty common quest bug that people get and the answer is to start the whole game over. Bullshit.

How as a publisher to fuck up the launch of a game:
Force the developer to come up with a demo when they had never planned one...that demo was so bad that if I had not preordered the game already I wouldn't have bought it.

Speaking of preorder...
Ooooh, the preorder comes with a poster! Bullshit. It's some 8.5x11" piece of paper. Whatever...it wasn't really something I cared about. I just wanted to make sure I got the game on release day. So release day comes...

There is one copy of the collector's edition on the shelf. I generally go the collector's edition route so this appealed to me. Then I read the box. Yay! It comes with a Poster!!! Oh wait that's right...it's not a poster it's a dick-the-customer-sandwich! Forget it. If they hadn't been so stupid and cheap with the preorder they wouldn't have lost the sale of the collector's edition.

The next step in how to fuck things up is making the auth or login servers overloaded during launch day. I don't know about you guys but I didn't have a choice on launch day. I *had* to play single player since the servers were down.

The next step..
Make the multiplayer experience so buggy that you can't go 1 hour straight without a person in your group crashing or disconnecting. I played with 2 friends the other night and there were three of us running around probably 50% of the time. The rest of the time is was just two of us waiting on the 3rd guy to reload the game or reconnect. It was sad. Pay for a subscription???? Oh my that's a good one. EA games should be paying me to put up with this crap, not the other way around.

I was so excited about this game releasing but they fucked it up pretty bad. I dig the mindless killing and the deep loot tree but they better patch this thing up pronto or I'm going to chuck it as soon as I finish the single player campaign. I think the multiplayer community for this game might implode soon.

You know what this game is really lacking though? I really good environment that has the color gray in it. Yep, all these tilesets with rich colors are getting boring. We need some zones that have some gray.

Bugs can be fixed. While I want them to get fixed before anything else, I am more concerned about some of the current features which suck. We know the bugs will be fixed eventually, but certain features may take forever if they get fixed at all.

One example is the chat window. It needs to always be open and be transparent (kind of like WoW). Why reinvent the wheel? I feel that the window being closed by default is a bad idea and the fact that it gets in the way a lot is bad too. Both of those problems take away from the multiplayer aspect of the game serverely. People don't chat. People don't PUG.

I exit gracefully unless I've been playing for 4-5 hours. I only play in MP with friends, and have just as many legendary and rare drops as before. Not that it matters, a good upgradeable green is better than a legendary with half the expansion slots usually.

I have not 1, but 2 dye kits. My buddy had an extra key in Europe for the wasp dye kit and gave it too me. It worked, wasp > lava! The tilesets being repetitive to some is bad but imo, what do you expect from a game set in a city? Sewers aren't exactly supposed to look different. A museum isn't soposed to be a patch work of style. A near-holocaust town isn't supposed to be buckling with 1 day sale posters on doors that you haven't seen before. The tiles set a very good environment that is on par with any movie set I've seen in horror flicks.

I don't mind the 10$ sub but their has been little info leak out past the official forums about how it works if you sub for one month and cancel what do you loose etc. Also, I paid for the game and I got it. All I can expect is patches. Any further content they give that I have to pay for I'll deal with it them. I can put this game down or I can subscribe... it's my choice. Blaming the Devs or even EA is kinda stupid.

Completely agree with this. Having the chat closed by default is an idiotic particularly since it was not that way in beta. The few times I grouped in beta it was quite fun, since the number of mobs increased greatly. I have not grouped once since the game went live.

I am fortunate that I have not been getting crashes recently **knocks wood** because that was absolutely ruining the game for me. I have not encountered most of the other bugs mentioned, thankfully.

I'm not sure if EA is behind this problem but I'll bet they are. I theorize that they put way too much pressure on FSS to get those games on shelves before Christmas with or without bugs. There is no reason not to expect to buy a game off the shelf that works and works well. A game without bugs is non-existent, but the line needs to be drawn somewhere. I am confident everything will work itself out, but a paying customer should get what they pay for.

You don't buy a microwave that doesn't work right 2 out of 3 times due to a design flaw and not expect to be able to return your purchase. No one would ever accept a solution from the microwave's manufacturer which involved a repair man coming to your house 3-6 months later with a new part which fixes the microwave. Hell no! You return the damn thing and get a different one. Design flaws = refunds and recalls based on certain standards. I see no reason why software should not be required to live up to a certain set of standards before selling it too.

The Beta chat was much better before they made it into "Full Game" chat. Before the last patch to bring Beta up to what was the "Final Game", the chat window was amazing, perfect transparency for gaming then they borked it.

Quite frankly, the speed at which FSS are dealing with bugs is tremendous. They must be working extra overtime hours to sort them out. For about a week and a half now, I have had a much stabler game and gaming experience.

I have a couple of unresolved graphical issues such as the odd looking Rifts. I can generally see the bottom crest of them and thats it but I am so pleased I bought this game.

It is one rare game that lives up to the hype, the gameplay you get perfectly fits Diablo 2 in a First/third Person Mould however the release date was probably a month too early in development and it shows. If you get a good session like I have at a weekend... about 5-6 hours straight without a crash... you will be totally addicted.

I am truly amazed at how good it looks, textures are amazing if you have the hardware to handle them or can deal with a lower frame rate (I am the latter, as long as its 20+ Im fine). DX10 is really shining.

So they've fixed DX10? poppin, can you confirm/deny? I will give it a shot when I get home tonight, but it will be late.

I have never once been able to play in DX10 (beta or live) so I am looking forward to them fixing it so I can try it.

For me, DX10 has NEVER been broken. It has always worked on my 320mb BFG 8800GTS OC and my new 512mb BFG 8800GT OC
