Elcs, I already mentioned this and if you read the article you'd know this: Melee is not in FP. It switches to third person when you select a melee weapon. I bet it will be similar to Morrowind. Morrowind was better in TP for melee and FP for ranged.

If you read my posts, you'll see I mentioned 3rd person views.

Third person melee'ing feels just as awkward as first person although you have the perspective to see whats around you.

Morrowind was horrible in FPS combat so I gave up after dieing a few hundred times. Never knew there was a Third Person Combat mode. Ill have to check that out.

If I could remember the name of that First/Third person game that made me feel sick. It was a good game, I still dislike first/third person melee combat.

Heretic 2 had some good 3rd person melee fighting, and drakan as well and other games I can't remember

Drakan was ok, if a little sluggish on my PC at the time. Combat wasnt bad but from what I remember, you werent exactly swarmed with enemies.

The 1st person/3rd-person game that was good but made me sick was Enclave. Very good and enjoyable although I played the ranged character.

Unitl I get my hands on a demo, Im going to have major doubts about melee.

I think the hit system will be quite fun. Will they use separate doll areas for shooting and hit-calculation? My mind is kind of swamped with revision so I cant focus on that kind of area but it should be interesting.

I played Morrowind, hated the FPS combat system. I never realised it had a Third Person view... therefore Ill dig it out and give it another shot.

On a lighter note, in normal FPSes, all you have to do is basically point and click to 'aim and fire' a weapon and you'll register a hit (assuming the accuracy of the weapon is sufficient). With an RPG, you have to factor in Attack and Defense ratings.

Will this game use separate armour sections and hit sections to determine damage? I mean, I aim my gun at someones head, will a characters AR + damage be factored against say just the characters head gear DR + buffs offered by other items or will it be factored against the total DR + buffs?

Looking quite complex.

I'm looking at the screenshots: http://media.pc.ign.com/media/737/737992/img_2740434.html and thinking "what kind of terrible freaking graphics is that". I seriously hope this is some sort of jpeg compression issue because that looks horrendous. The textures on the buildings, the newspaper stands, they all look like square boxes, half gray/half some other color. And the monsters? They remind me of Duke Nukem 3d. The idea of the game sounds very cool, but these graphics... somethings not right.

Doom3 monsters had some of the worse looks I had seen recently

Also, I'd probably question that judgement call. It may be your opinion, but I'd be curious what monsters you've seen recently that looked better. I don't argue doom3 being boring or having redundant gameplay with anyone, but arguing whether it had scary, extremely well detailed monsters, well I'd take that argument anyday.

I'll be curious to see how this does at E32005.

Edited to add the official site link. Looking at their official site, looks like this is the next big thing. Almost a dozen front cover hits in magazines for them. I don't doubt after E3 they'll get more.

Looks like it could be fun. I know noting about it, but would like to try it out. Graphics look ok, and if the game is fun to play, and has lots of enemys on screen, could be fun, and a reason why there is not such great enemy detail. The game looks like it has a definate hit/miss possiblily. I'm definatly looking at this one, as if it's what i think it should be, it could be fun.

It's... complicated. They aren't guns in the way we think them, at least from what I've seen.
