Hello Anandtech Users!

Finally made an account after quite some time lurking the forums. As most of you are, I'm a fellow tech enthusiast and work in the realm of IT.

Disc golf is what gets me outside. AMD brought much needed competition to the table. Vikings is a great tv show and long walks on the beach is something I can't do in this part of the country! (And no, I don't really want to swim in Lake Michigan...)

I look forward to helping out others when possible and being part of this community!

Lake Michigan is actually surprisingly clean. Federal antidegredation standards are pretty effective at protecting the lake. I wouldn't go in after a big rain storm, but otherwise its pretty good.

To be fair, I'm just not a big fan of the lake, I'd much prefer a pool with a diving board or an ocean with waves so I can try to surf Most likely embarrass myself in doing so and possibly getting eaten by a shark but hey! It would be good fun.

Good to hear we all share similar interests! And thanks for the replies. I'm also excited to see how Intel prices the new i9 CPUs.... Or how AMD will counter that price with their own r9? (I forgot what they are labeling their enthusiast grade chips)

A fellow Michigander (or Wisconsinite) eh? A Yooper here though I'm now downstate. We used to swim in the lake as kids quite a bit; always a treat during the summer.

Lake Michigan on a hot day in late spring is pretty funny. I was there first week of June when it was 92 degrees. There was like 200 people on the beach and only maybe a dozen were in the water. I just run and dive right in I dont even want to know how cold the water is. It's only cold for a few seconds!

I am more prone to go exploring/hiking around Grant Park and the pathways (or make my own) than to jump in the water! lol, as humid as it is today a nice dip in the water wouldn't bee too bad.

I'm not sure how it is on the wisconsin side of the lake, but on the michigan side it starts to get cold pretty damn quick long before you get to the water. You'd have to be nuts to jump in today. The water is like 45 degrees.

I've been there many times though not since moving downstate. I do have a buddy that lives in Green Bay/De Pere area though. Nice area; I'd definitely live in WI if I had to move from here.

It really is beautiful especially up where your buddy lives. If I could make a decent living moving up north near Canada I would... but most businesses up there are still ran by pen and paper lol. The Disc Golf scene here is pretty big, not as large as Texas' but as soon as I'm off work I head out to different courses!
