I think NKOTB was more a girl thing, I actually do remember them being considered a hit as my sister was a big fan.

I think it's because they appealed mostly to girls (as a boy band) and most of us here in ATOT are male. So yes to pretty much everything else on the list, just not to much to the Backstreet Boys of the 80's.
