Radeon X1900 GT (256 MB) This card if you take a look on on google you can see it has a heatsink with a fan implanted inside that one is fine and clean.

Now the far right where the gpu chipset is located i think you can see there is a very little heat sink but without any fan.
The card is quite old but im still planing to use if to a year until i save money up find good deals on the net to buy a new one etc.
(I play games like Crusader kings 2 well Paradox simulators to superpowers 2 and Homeworld 2 and games of this sort sometimes LoL and Navyfield 2 to Skyrim.)
On mid high settings.)

Now back to the problem.
The problem i had was the card i know can be round 80c to even 100c my was when i played last night a game about 75c and loud as hell because the fan was doing all it can i might as well buy a new gpu fan on to the heatsink but for now its fine.

I put a fan on the small heatsink of the card with a string that holds it and well its fine on the other side of the fan its work right now all fine and good but.

Im afraid that when i start a game up that the string is fine but on the side where the card has no heatsink the back side the string i secured put under it a paper well paper from the post office lattes you have do you or can recommend to me a other or type of material that does or will not hurt the gpu if it heats up ?

In advance thank you. I might as well just take a picture of it. (Please dont laugh at me im quite busy right now in work and dont have the time or willpower to do it better.) :|

I had that card once upon a time and it had a bad heat issue as well. The string isn't exactly a good thing to use, I would say that a pci fan in the next slot or two 80mm fans tied together and secured to the empty pci slot would be a lot better since they wouldn't be touching the card. FYI, my 1900 fried due to overheating because I never fixed the heat issue.

Yeh it does heat alot but right now with the fan i got there the temp is idel or using web watching movies hd etc at about 50c-55c and when i play a game then about 60c-70c at max. =D so the heat problem is solved. Hmm yeh good ideal with the fans.

Hmm anyone eles got a good ideal or tell me if that string is fine but the paper under it can it cause damage or catch on fire at 70c at max lol ? Or what other material is better to use ?

Basic things such as, is the heat sink clean or dusty? Is the heatsink loose? Have you tried to reapply thermal paste on the heatsink?

Yes i cleaned it clean no dust and thermal paste is applied and its not loss.
Just now i played navy field 2 on full settings and the temp was from everest max 65c while idle about 50c.
If you took a look at the picture one of them two then you notice the paper well its from post office latter type paper and i put it under the string so its secured the back of the card and the paper seams not warm or anything what do you think ?

Do you know of any better material to put instead of that what i put ?

Yeh i just got a bad feeling about that paper there with temp highest of 70 lets say hmm....PS: Its hard cover paper well from the post office latter you buy or holiday cards i mean lol.

Hi okay thank you, you two. Okay so i dont have to worry about the paper. =) The large rubber band sounds like a good ideal will do i think or i just leave it as its now as its stable and works just fine. I was just little bit worried about the paper. But now i know it wont do no harm. =) ^_^ Okay thanks

Just be careful that it does not age and flake off and get sucked up by other parts.

Use plastic zip ties if you are afraid of paper burning up or flaking away.

And why are you posting in every thread with nothing to say? If you are trying to increase your post count, do it in the off topic forum.
Don't reply to this post.
