Help 80GB HD recognized as 32GB

My new IBM GXP 120 80GB HD thinks its a 32GB drive. It is most likely my own fault. During initial installation i was fdisking it and i shut off the computer thinking i would just let the winXP install disk do it for me. Well it now thinks its 32GB. I've tried to delete the partition and it does no good because when i try to do it again, its comes up as 32GB. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can we get your motherboard model? Maybe you have to flash your bios or something?

Also when you do fdisk, you can try this fdisk /mbr... it resets the master boot record

When you boot up, in the bios does it recognize it as a 80gb?

Nope, MB doesnt recognize it as 80, it sees 32, The MB is the MSI 694T pro.....its a new MB with tualatin support so I have a hard time seeing it being the MB not capable of supporting it

Check the drive for a jumper that limits the drive to 32GB. I believe it is Western Digitals that have this jumper for older computers.

Check the jumpers on the hard drive...it might have a max 32GB setting.

on my maxtor 40GB, when i set it to master... it gives me 31GB.
when i set it to cableselect, 37.

i have no idea why.
