Helping a buddy of mine with his Acer Aspire V3- 772G to get it back to work lots of frustrating issues with it and can't figure it out.
Problem: Laptop doesn't detect any boot devices or boot media. I cannot
install new windows on it. Possible hdd failure. Boot into Bios and switch the boot type to "Legacy" It was set to "UEFI" as default, was able to boot the windows disc on legacy mode, but deleting/partitioning wasn't working, it keeps saying this windows cannot be installed blah blah blah! Even though it says 931gb free. I cannot get anything to read on "UEFI Mode" only in Legacy.
My attempt solution: I hooked up my hdd to my desktop and was able to pull up more info about it. I couldn't initialize the disk. I had to download a different software and was able to set it as a primary, able to convert it to NTFS then wala! Was able to boot the windows disc and as well install it.
As soon as it was done installing, I had to install all the necessary drivers and even updated the bios from 1.02 to 1.15 ver.
Till the laptop kept getting stuck and started to freeze up.
Temps were good from 40c-64c on the processor.
I also disable secure boot when the UEFI is on
can't enable it on legacy
Do you guys think this is hard drive issue? Why I can only install on legacy mode on the bios? And not UEFI? Is this laptop screwed up?
