HELP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

Ok my friend has an computer that's giving him an "system failure, cpu test" voice message when booting up... how can i test the power supply to see if it's good or what the problem might be?

Are you overclocking it? I'd clear CMOS first, and see if that fixes the problem.

No, it's not overclocked. Got back from the holidays and it won't boot up. The monitor won't even turn on:/

He has an asus board, with a pentium4 1.5 ghz cpu. The cdrom and a: have been disconnected.... he has a 300w psu from compusa and 256 mb of centon ddr. Sometimes the red light on the front of the casing blinks... i have no clue what it's for.

It should be a jumper on the motherboard - check the motherboard manual; it should be in there.

It's possible there was a power surge while you were gone.

ROFL.... ok just caught that typo, thanks for pointing it out;P Anyways, I figured out what the problem was. He bought him a case from compusa with a generic 300 watt psu in it. Turns out, the things bad. I hooked my antec up to his board and everything was hunkydoory.
