I recently installed a ASUS V9560 Video Suite Nvidia FX 5600 card in my machine and it's been causing serious problems. (See bottom for my setup)
When I first installed it, I was having problems with open gl apps crashing or not initializing, direct X wouldn't initialize and getting "out of memory" messages when I tried to open multiple instances of media player playing small avi files. When I looked at the Asus information in the display properties, it listed on 64 megs of AGP ram in use (the card is 128 megs). So I checked my bios and sure enough, the AGP memory aperture was set to 64 - so I set it to 128, and upon rebooting windows 2000 starting giving me constant "write delay failed" messages for any running program saying data has failed to right to disk. I set back the aperture to 64 and the errors stopped, but It's still giving me the original problems. I am using the asus divers included with the card (43.45A) - When I tried the install the certified Nvidia drivers, my machine repeatedly rebooting half-way through the installation. (Only the asus drivers seemed to work)
The only thing I can think is that I'm running the card which is 8X agp in a 4x agp slot, but in my previous research, no one seemed to have problems with this. My old card is a 4x agp 64 meg MSI Geforce 2 Ti and it worked great.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Laurence
