HELP !! - ATI radeon 8500

Hi,
I just received my R8500 card with 64 MB of DDR memory, and I am running on a windows 2000 machine. I installed the card, and boot up my machine. Windows prompts me for drivers, and i insert the ATI CD came with the video card and follow the steps to install drivers. Then I restarted my machine, I still can see the boot up screen of "Windows 2000 build on NT Technology", but nothing appears after that screen. I only see my mouse icon and the rest of my monior is completely black. I don't know what went wrong. Does this ever happen to anyone? Or does anyone know some ways to delete the installed driver in DOS so I can reinstall the driver again.

BTW, my motherboard is ASUS P3V4X and my processor is P3 733.

Boot into safe mode and remove the drivers.

I tried that, but it still doesn't work. Does anyone have other recommendations?

This happened to me once.... Forgot what I did... Did you remove your old drivers before installing the new card and drivers? you should put your old Vid card back in so it recognizes that, completely uninstall all video drivers, turn comp off, install Radeon, boot back up. That's what I would do

I had this same problem when I recieved my Radeon 8500 and installed it on a Shuttle AK31a. I had to go into bios and switch to either AGP 1x or 2x to boot up properly. Tech support at Shutttle said after I removed and reinstalled the drivers while in 2x mode I would be able to sellect AGP 4x. I could get it to run in 2x but it never worked in 4x until I changed motherboards to an Epox 8K7HA+. I have read other motherboards with VIA chipsets had problems as well as some Nforce. Hope this helps

I used to have P3V4X too.
Couldn't make it to work right at AGP 4x - would keep rebooting all the time...

Try AGP 2x.
It's not so bad...
