My laptop is Asus EEE PC 1015pn with windows 7. The SSD drive was installed without any issue. Until today, i installed a software called " WintoUSB " in order to build a extra bootable windows 8.1 pro on a usb stick. After win8 installation completed, I rebooted the system and disabled the SSD drive from bios. and then rebooted win8 again with usb stick. The win8 runs without problem but it just runs very slow on usb stick. Anyway that was not the point.

I wanted to go back to use win7 on my ssd. So I turned off laptop and unpluged the usb stick but the bios cant detect the ssd drive any more even i enable AHCI from bios.

Now, i boot up the win8 on usb stick, i can still see those file and folder in ssd from win8. but The ssd cant be detected from bios so it is still not bootable.

I don't remember the model of SSD . I know it is 64G. The model maybe crucial C300 i m not sure .???

Does anyone here have a solution? Thanks !!

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD and use the repair functions. Bootrec commands from a command prompt usually works.

Check this for directions:

yes thanks. I will try it later. But this case is quite special . Let me show u something.

Here is the detection AFTER the win8 usb plugged in :

Before access bios, it lists what it detected on first screen. I notice ...

" Auto-detecting USB mass storage device ...
device #01 : patriot memory *Hispeed* <<-------
device #02: Multiple card *Highspped* <<-----------
02 USB mass storage device found and configured. "

After accessed bios, here is the setting and detection ....

Advanced page : " IDE configuration / configure SATA as / AHCI "
Boot device priority page : " 1st boot device [USB: patriot memory] <<<------
2st boot device [ATAPI cd-rom]
3st boot device [removable dev.]

Here is the detection WITHOUT the win8 usb plugged in :

Before access bios, it lists what it detected on first screen. I notice ...

" Auto-detecting USB mass storage device ...
device #01: Multiple card *Highspped* <<------------
01 USB mass storage device found and configured. "

Here is what Computer management/disk management shown on win 8 :

volume / file system / status
F: / FAT32 / healthy( primary partition )
SSD1 / ntfs / healthy( logical drive )
SSD2 / ntfs /healthy ( logical drive )
system reserved / ntfs / healthy (active,primary partition )
wintousb / ntfs / healthy( boot,active,crash Dump,primary partition )
wintousb / ntfs / healthy( system.active,primary partition )

I didn't save the original ssd setting from bios at the very beginning. What i remember there was a ssd model shown at 1st page from bios.
But now 1st boot device detected as "USB Multiple card". After plugged the usb stick and reboot bios, 1st boot device is replaced by " USB patriot memory" and "USB Multiple card device" disappeared

finally i deleted all partition on SSD with win7 dvd and wanted to reinstall win7. win7 detected new partition i created but it is not able to install new system partition. it say "this computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's bios menu"

Also it failed to use win7 dvd to repair win7 in Dos. i tried "bootrec.exe /fixmbr" . it is completed but "bootrec.exe /fixboot " cant passed. it say sometimes like ..element... i forgot it.

My USB stick is 32Gb so i think E: drive is only partition belong to usb stick. the rest partition maybe belong to ssd and is used by win8 sys on usb stick.

I think you are correct that the SSD is not detected properly. I think here it should have shown its brand and/or a code number. Even your USB stick is detected as "Patriot memory".

Do you have access to another laptop/desktop to check whether the SSD is detected there? Maybe is faulty and time to RMA.

Another way to check is with a live Linux OS, but I am quite sure this is a BIOS or disk problem.

Yes i was thinking about taking the ssd to another pc and delete all remain partition from ssd then see what happen if there is no other solution. Because the problem was caused by software and there was no any physical impact on hardware, i believe it can be fixed by using software. If this is desktop pc, it maybe much easy. You know that'd so much trouble to take ssd out from laptop. so that 'd be the final way. I hope no RMA need.

I agree with that 'd BIOS or disk problem. I dont know about Linux OS. But i tried
to boot up with ghost 15 disk. it showed there are two partitons from creating MBR option. they are 60G and 15G . (I thought my sd is only 64G) i didnt do anything on it because i m not sure about this MBR part. Is there any bootable software that is able to see hided partition and delete them?

I found out the F: drive 14.71Gb FAT32 disk1 is from SD card
I removed the sd card. The usb multiple card is gone from bios and HARDDRIVE come back to Boot device priority option :whiste:

I tried to install win7 but failed just like b4. And then I downloaded a free bootable partition tools to rebuild MBR. It works this time
Right now i m installing windows and it seems to ok.
Problem solved . Thanks you guys !!

After installed windows and reboot , the ssd model name finally appear on " Advanced / IDE config " page from the bios =)

It is strange for the SD card to block the hard disk in the BIOS. Maybe the issue is fixed with a BIOS update.

It is also nice to see you have solved it.

It probably showed up in the boot order.

In some BIOSes, there are two boot device lists. One is by category, and then each category has a boot device list within that category.

I feel that if the OP went into this secondary boot device list, he could have moved the SSD to the top of the list.
