Well as the topic says, I'm need help choosing between these panels. I've already read a bunch of reviews on the Viewsonic and it seems like a great panel, except I heard it isn't shipping with the glossy screen (confirm this?) which is what I really want. I saw one of the 17" sony's at SonyStyle in the Houston Galleria and it was most impressive although I couldn't really try it out. So do any of you guys have any experience with this Sony monitor? I don't trust the reviews from AT alot more than some of the other places. Thanks.

I would have to say viewsonic because I own one and it is great. I don't know what your talking about with the "glassy screen".

sorry I meant glossy screen, Sony's Xbrite and Viewsonics Clearmotiv. Its a film thats put over the screen to increase color intensity and whatnot. Like the higher end HP and Sony laptops. I just want to know ppls thought on the Sony.

Just surfing the net shows some good reviews on the Viewsonice 912B, but none of the reviews are really from a good gaming perspective. I am VERY close to purchasing one, but am looking for some reviews from the gamer's perspective first.

I own the sony HS74P and it has the xbrite tech. If i could do it over again, i'd go with the viewsonic, it has teh same tech at a cheaper price. I paid 448for this sony which is what really pisses me off because it's just 17inches.

Also, the Viewsonic is thinner if you're into that sort of thing. Also, theres a new Hs series out: Hs75p=17inch and Hs95=19inch which you might consider looking into. It probably means that current 74 and 94 models will be taking a price drop because currently they newr models cost the same as the older ones.

in the end the picture quality is great, and the shiney screen is cool, but the:

PRICE
Bad Viewing Angles
Blurring when scrolling
PRICE

Kills it!!!

If it's mainly for gaming, you should get the L90D+, it has great user reviews from gamers. I read a review that says it's not good for watching movies, but that's what my 47" HDTV is for. Why would I want to watch movies on a 19" screen, unless I was a teenager living in my parents house?

I see your using a 6800 gt. What a waste of power. It can play most games at 1600x1200, something your 17 or even 19" lcd monitor can't. If your looking at LCDs then spend more and get one that supports this resolution.

1280x1024 is a great resolution for a 6800GT. Turn up the AA and AF and you'll have a great looking game.

And as far as I know, the VP912b no longer has the glossy finish. It's matte like everyone else.

funny you mentioned the L90D+, because thats the monitor I got like 2 days ago! I have to say I have no regrets and I got it from newegg when it was like, 379 i think. No ghosting, no backlight bleed, excellent when watching hd content. Oh and I live with my parents but we have 65" HDTV so its all good.

Just ordered a VP912b from Newegg, $539 shipped. It wasn't in stock for the longest time today, even though the ETA was the 16th. Looked earlier this evening and it was in stock and bought it on the spot. Maybe I got the only one, because now it's back out of stock, lol .
