Hey all. I'm putting together a computer, and recently installed a BX Master, and now my computer won't boot. It powers on when I short the pins on the mobo (hard drive turns on, all fans turn on), but the computer won't boot. The D-LED shows 4 red lights. I tried my celeron 566->850 in a neighbor's system, and it worked just fine. So what's left to check? My HDD worked fine, and so did my video card. I would think my motherboard is bad, except that I tried using an AOpen BX6 Pro Gold before with the same results (would not boot). Ideas? Opinions? thanks.

Diagnostic LED configuration with all red means that system doesn't go trough even the first step of boot-up process, chipset initialization. I can only guess: since same happened on another mobo, it could be faulty ATX power supply or connector (pins not making proper contant).

so should I get a new power supply then? Could it be anything else? Why would the computer still power on if the PS were faulty?

Some power lines could be connected properly while others not, or it could simply be that the supply isn't delivering enough current to the board. Before buying a new power supply I recommend you try the mobo+CPU out in another case, if one is conveniently available.

I'd really want to try out another computer as well, but it's not available. I guess I'll just try reconnecting, and if that doesn't work I'll order the Antec. Thanks jpprod

Rup The Kid,
I have a similar problem with my Celeron 566 @ 850 Mhz, and MSI Master Motherboard, however in my case the machine boots up judt fine from a cold boot ( On/Off switch). My problem is that the machine won't soft boot, using the reset button, Ctrl/alt/delete, restart from the start menu, or when exiting Bios setups, what happens is that the maching goes dormant, all of the lights, power on, cd drives, etc are on, however the video signal goes off ( monitor black ) and all 4 diagnostic LEDS are Red. Have to hold the on/off buton down for 4 seconds too shut machine down. Then it will start and boot o.k. when turned on from on/off button. I have tried with the BX Master motherboard jumpers set to virtual 100 Mhz, and the BX Master sloket set to virtual 100 mhz, and still no luck. There are several people having the same or similar problems with this Celeron LL 566 @ 850 and the MSI BX Master mother board. Next I'm going to set the celeron 566 at its default of 66 Mhz FSB and 5.5 multiplier, I'm beginning to believe that there are some Celeron 566's that are defective and causing this situation when overclocked. Any one who has a fix for this please post or e-mail me. Rup check all of your motherboard ans slocket jumper settings. Radarman Ron
