My mom's work and internet machine is on the fritz, and before i buy or change anything I just want to make sure I'm not screwing up. Her PC is an Intel PIII coppermine 1ghz, 256mb pc100, ati rage pro graphics, cnet pro200 10/100 nic on a Tyan mobo. The motherboard is marked as model Tiger 230, but that is a dual processor mobo and this is a single, s i think it isa mislabeled Trinity 450, which has close to the same model# (s2057S vs S2057T) but is a single socket370.
Recently the computer hsa started to randomly freeze up, and when it is rebooted it starts beeping and doesn't post. If you let it sit off a while, and then turn it on again, it works. Also, a couple weeks ago it randomly stopped recognizing the etherenet card. i tried reinstalling the drives, didn't work, but as soon as i put ther card in a different PCI slot it worked fine. THese two things lead me to believe something is wrong with the motherboard. Before i buy a new one, does that sound like i am targeting the rioght component, or is something wrong with windows 2000?
