HELP*** CPU Temp is 53 C/127F

OK I just built my first computer and powered it up....very nervous...anyways I wentinto the BIOS and the BIOS said CPU was 53 C (127F) and System was 34C(93F). Is this normal or is my CPU temp way too high?

I was a little afraid of my artic silver mounting skills...please help.

I turned off the computer and await some guidance.

that's not too hot..just use it normally for a while and if it crashes or something strange happens then it's probably too hot.

I wouldn't worry about it. My cpu routinely runs around 67 C (has been doing it for over a year). I know that's absolutely god-awful, but I've never had problems with instability and such.

Forgot to say I have a AMD 2000+ CPU on a Gigabyte 7VRXP Mobo.

The cpu temp sensor is located (I think) with a protruding thing right under the CPU in the socket...I Was afraid 53C was too high because I havent even done anything intensive, just BIOS setup....

It isnt unusual for Athlon to run that warm, especially this time of year. If its stable you are doing OK.

No worries...thats typical XP temp.

continue forth you are well within range of proper temps.. if you have instability issues or the such then it's time to look closer- you say you used AS3? what HS/F are you using - not stock I presume?

Thanks for the HELP!!!

I am continuing on to format/partioning as I type.

I am using an evercool cud-725 from nexfan.com....I am also using my friends AS2

I will keep an eye out for stability issues....
