Help! Credit service company calling every 3 minutes from 8am-9, how to make it stop?

My friend's mother is being harrassed by a credit service company who has literally been calling her house phone every 3 minutes, between 8am to 9pm, for the past 5 days straight.

When she picks up, there isn't a recorded message or live person or anything, just silence.

It's driving her crazy and she doesn't have any outstanding credit issues to date.

The number that keeps calling her is: 406-715-0000

Apparently there are a number of other people who have had this problem but nobody has a definite solution on how to stop it.

Any suggestions on what she can do to get this number to stop calling? She is already on a nation-wide do not call list, it isn't doing her much good. My suggestion is to change her number but she will only do that as a last resort.

i kept having asshole companies leave me blank voicemails. so i just changed my voice mail to 'hi, you've reached me. at my phone number. your call is very important to us, please remain on the line...'

then it plays about 8 seconds of 'the girl from ipanema' and randomly bursts into deafening metal until they hang up.

This 406-715-0000 is truly a Scam, when I waited for the automative service to finish to speak to a live person. The line was picked up, a man answered and asked who are you? He gave Contact Communications, I asked again who are you? The man proceed to say that we are credit services of Visa, Mastercard and Chase for Bank of America(I knew he was lying) and proceeded to tell me we can lower your interest rate, you owe 3,000.00. As soon as I said, "NO" he hung up the phone.

Bank of America needs to know that these scam artist are using their name! These folks have called more than once in a day and wk. Shut Them Down Immediately and DO NOT, DO NOT, GIVE THEM YOUR INFO. REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU HAVE VISA, MASTERCARD, CHASE Report them to your Better Buisness Bureau, ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE IN YOUR STATE and Bank of America.

Some of Panasonic's cordless phones have a call block feature.

Store the Caller ID info of any and all unwanted callers into your phone's Call Block list so that you can eliminate future pesky calls. After the information is stored, those unwanted callers will receive a busy signal when they call you again.

I'd probably go with that before changing my phone number.

This is definitely what's happening. She doesn't want to make any money though, she just wants the calls to stop (sweet little old 68-year-old lady).

LOL. This is awesome, until one of your friends/relatives/coworkers call.

Then, convince the sweet little old lady to sue them! Consider it acting as a good citizen to help out other citizens. If no one sues them, they'll just continue harassing lots of other people. As soon as they discover they can't get away with it, they'll stop.

This. Although I can understand if the time, energy, and money invested into a lawsuit is more than she wants to deal with. Still, if they're calling every 3 minutes literally someone needs to learn them a lesson.

I had the same issue but it was a company trying to send me a fax. I got fedup and actually hooked up a fax machine and when the call came in I picked it up. Was some kind of construction marketing company in Toronto and they had an email address. I sent them a blast email threatening them to contact the CRTC and FCC (no idea if they'd even do anything, but it sounded good in writing). I got an apology and have not gotten a single call since.

Guess in this case it would be harder. I have asked my phone company about blocking numbers and for some reason they can't. Some kind of legal thing, I don't really understand why, but guess it might be some CRTC regulation or something. Maybe your company can do it though.
