Help deciding between two monitors!

I want a good 19 incher and I'm looking at the NEC FE950+ and the Samsung 900NF. I know that the Samsung has got a lot of good press and many folks here just love it but how does it stand compared to other monitors in your opinion. Do you have any other good monitors that I can buy for the same price (Sony's a little bit out of my budget but I may fork the extra if it is worth it....).

Personally, I think a good monitor is always worth it. Most likely, you will have it for multiple major PC upgrades, and it is the only part of the PC you stare at for hours.

I have an AOC Spectrum 9Glrs at work and I can't stand it. Sure the screen is big, but it has the annoying curved screen, and bad glare, and bad colors. I would take my 17 inch Dell Trinitron (Sony) over this any day. I have had it since 1997. During college, it was being used probably 22 hours or more a day. It has been used heavily. The AOC's here at work always seem to be dying and don't have much chance in making it 3 yrs.

My 17 inch has a new scratch on it, and I am now in the market for a 19 inch as well. I have pretty much settled on the CPD-G410R from Sony. Mwave has it for $325+$40 shipping.

I have also heard good things about the Samsung 955DF, and I think it retails for around $300 so you could find it for $250 online probably.

I have heard of good things about that NEC FE950+, but if I was going to be buying a new 19" monitor now, I would go with the Samsung 900NF cause it looks like a very good performing monitor with a flat tube and aperture grill. I would rate that right up with the Sony G420 but it costs less.

I believe that there's a thread to find a 900NF in Hot Deals now for under $300. Do a search for it.

I have a 17'' Sony Trinitron on my old computer. The monitor is absolutely fantastic. For my new computer I read reviews and ordered a Samsung 955DF (19'') and expect that to be damn good as well. Samsung and Sony are the best choices for monitors. Don't cut corners on something you'll be using 100% of the time that you're on the computer (the monitor!!).

When you get that, let me know how it is compared to the Sony. The local places around here don't have both the Sony and the Samsung close to each other (if they have both at all) for me to do a side by side comparison.

Zukatah get the NEC FE950+ 19 inch montior. It is very nice. It looked just as good as the $399 to $499 19 inch monitors but for a lot cheaper. It even looked better than the samsung montiors! To me it looked better than the sonys too or at least just as good just not as expersive. Plus the NEC FE950+ is not expersive. Go with the NEC FE950+!

I have a samsung 955df and i love it. I've had it for a while now and I got it for quite a price, but now, it's around $230 at my local computer retail stores (saw it for $200 when it was on sale). I'd recommend getting this or maybe even the 900nf (never saw it in action). I've had samsung monitors ever since my first computer I got like 9 years ago ( haha, i was in second grade) and I didn't understand why they were all samsung monitors until I fell in love with computers. Anyways, I don't know which one you'd choose, but I'm sure you wont regret getting the samsung.

ku well i sure wish i feel in love with computers when i was first born or at least by 2 years old. You could learn a whole lot. Not everything but a lot more if you start that young you know. Too bad i can't go back and learn more.

I bought a Samsung 900NF sight unseen based on the reviews and I have not regretted it a single second since. Highly recommended (especially at those Hot Deal prices)!

The 955DF isn't really a choice because it isn't flat and I need flatness (graphism) so my heart goes for the 900NF that was my initial choice. I'll continue to save money to buy one while my old monitor is dying slowly but surely =(
