help! do better than toshiba a 12x/$98 or pioneer16x/$96

I was wondering if anyone knew of a better deal than these:
a Toshiba SD-M1402-S which is a 12x bare drive, and was posted on here a little while ago. the cheapest price i have been able to find is $89 at http://www.jazztechnology.com/cd_dvd/dvd.asp.
or, should i go with the pioneer?
pioneer dvd115 is a 16x bare drive. cheapest price i could find was $96 dollars at the same place. Basically, I will be ripping DVD's with this drive. Is one better than the other? Any comments are greatly appreciated, thanks.

does anyone know how fast either of these dvd drives will rip audio?
i have heard that an acer 50x will rip at around 24x
i also wanna know how fast one of them kenwood true 72x drives will rip audio

Killabeas, the Toshiba is slower at DAE... it does 8x, and I believe the Pioneer is 12X. I had to choose several months ago between these two drives. From what I could tell, there was really no advantage to the 16x vs. 12x DVD speed, since there's not much in the way of DVD data discs, and movies have to play at 1x anyway. They both offer 40x CD read speeds, and I think the Toshiba had SLIGHTLY better seek times. The reports I read listed the Toshiba as cool & quiet compared to the hot & noisy performance of the Pinoeer. I ended up getting the Toshiba, because it ended up being about $40 cheaper at the time (I used a buy.com coupon + free shipping, and the cheapest delivered price I could find on the Pioneer was about $120). Performance wise, I think the Pioneer is the better drive (if for nothing else the faster DAE, which I wanted), but cheaper, cooler, quieter (and did I say cheaper?) was enough to sway me towards the Toshiba.
