Do I intall Linux first, then install XP later?

One for XP, one for linux and one for the swap drive on Linux?

Simplest way to avoid future complications is to create a partition for linux iusing XP and instruct linux install to use only that partition for itself. Also, to not disturb XP boot, instruct linux to put its boot files on a floppy, which you would then use to start linux.

It's really best to use ext3 partitions and boot using lilo or grub. Either one will recognize XP and you'll have to option to boot to either OS. If you should decide you hate linux, and want to go crawling back to XP, the only thing you have to do is boot to your XP CD, go into recovery console, and do a fixboot. Then delete the partition Linux was on.

Check the FAQ's there is a detailed article there that discusses exactly how to set up a dual boot using Windows NT/2000/XP bootloader and a Linux install. It basically involves making linux boot from the partition its installed on and/or by boot disk. Essentially you install LILO on the linux partition and then add a file to the boot loader which points to LILO when selected.
