Motherboard: Intel DG35EC (http://www.intel.com/products/...EC/DG35EC-overview.htm)
(Motherboard photo)
Northbridge: Intel G35 Express Chipset (specifically the 82G35)

Stock northbridge heatsink: Measures about 35 mm tall (too tall for my 1U case), the "finned" area of the heatsink is about 34 mm x 67 mm (width/length). The full span including the extra area for the clip holes is 59 mm x 80 mm (width/length).

So basically, I'm looking for a replacement heatsink that meets the following criteria:
  • Able to cool the 82G35 adequately (passive or with fan is OK)
  • Total height does not exceed 30 mm
  • Able to mount using the "anchor" clips that Intel uses (through-hole clips rather than mounting holes)
  • Fit on the motherboard within the roughly 34 mm x 67 mm area (bigger/smaller may be OK depending on how it would fit)

I'm asking for some help here since I couldn't find anything on NewEgg that seemed to fit these needs. It's hard to find specific after-market northbridge heatsinks.

Thanks

Only possible candidate I've found so far:

SilenX IXN-40C: http://www.svc.com/ixn-40c.html

What doesn't make sense to me is that the heatsink is clearly a circular shape but they give the dimensions as 54x54x27mm. What is that supposed to mean? 54 mm diameter? And, is that just for the heatsink or does that include the fan too? If it doesn't include the fan, then it will probably be too tall for my 1U chassis (unless I could get by without the fan, which is a possibility).

Thanks for the responses. I ended up ordering the SilenX since it seems like it's the only thing out there that will fit and work with the anchor clips, provided I don't use the fan.

WoodButcher, what about it didn't you like?

It is not a solid block w/ fins. I really found nothing about it that impressed me. It did cool but it is big so cooling is expected. The fan made noises after a month of use.

Enzotech CNB-R1 is 30 mm high without a fan. It can be attached by pins or clip. It is solid copper and does a good job as a passive cooler.
