I built a new rig based on the Soltek SL-K8AN2-GR mobo a couple months ago and everything has been working like a champ. HOWEVER, this morning I booted up, and one of my hard drives (160 GB Seagate PATA, slave on IDE1) suddenly appears to my machine as if it's a brand new drive! When I try to open it in Windows, I get a "The Disk in drive X is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?" dialog. I ran the Seagate utility, and it said my computer is not configured to read drives over 137 GB - would I like to change the registry and reboot? I did that, but it didn't help. Oh - I'm using Win 2k with SP4.
Windows' Disk Management and Partition Magic all say that the drive is healthy, just not formatted. I tried to virus scan it, and Norton said that the drive can't be accessed as it has been "locked by a disk utility." Not sure what that means... The rest of my machine came up clean on a virus scan.
Anyway, I'd really rather not reformat and lose my data if I don't have to. If anyone has any more suggestions, I'd love to hear them. Thanks!
