HELP! Having Car Problems. :o(

I have a 1985 Audi 5000S and I'm having a couple of problems.

The first one is the spedometer doesn't work.
Does anyone know how much it will cost to have that fixed?

The second one is that when I put the key in the ignition, it won't start. The key won't even turn.
I drove the car home yesterday, so I don't understand why that is happening.

I'm going crazy trying to figure out the second one... It's probably something very easy to fix, but I'm not really a car person.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

1. spedo cable broke. $150 at spedo shop to fix. if electronic spedo, you may need new console or speed sensor. also check all fuses to see if any burned out. ask the dealer, get a quote, then go to the junkyard.

2. dead battery (see if headlights turn on or are very dim). you might also have a bad ignition switch. the ignigtion module can be bought with key, im guessing $85 - $150 (a chevy would be $20!). call the dealer.

3. if you can afford to, please get rid of this car. weve had two audis (4000 & 5000s) and both were junk.

D'OH! I just got it yesterday! NOOOOO! Oh well. I guess I'll be selling it or trading it in for another car.

Have you tried moving the steering wheel as you try to turn key?

Not yet, db. Believe it or not, I can't get to the car right now... I'm at my Aunt's house in San Francisco, and I can't get to it because of Carnaval going on outside of her house. D'oh.

Ok. Second problem = Solved~!

Now onto fixing the spedometer, and I'm home free!
