Help: How to uninstall dual boot win XP

I have two windows XP pro install on my computer. How do i uninstall one, and set the other one to primary? I tried using the windows XP boot cd to delete the partition that I don't want, but the windows that i want to boot wouldn't boot. So I had to install windows again on this partition again which i want to get rid off. Thanks in advance.

is the window XP Pro install partition that you wish to delete on C drive or some other one?

trash the windows folder that coresponds to that OS install, and remove it form the boot.ini?

I have never had two installations of Windows, but I am assuming dual booting is the same as with linux. IN that case all you ahev to do is go into the recovery console and type fixmbr.

here is what i would do. Boot into one of the windows, go to control panel--adminstrative tool--computer management--disk management--right click on the partition of the operating system that you want to uninstall and choose format.

Editing the boot.ini file is the way to go - let us know how it turns out.

The partition that you deleted must have been the active partition. Without an active partition, you cannot boot. To see which partition is active, right click on "My Computer" and click on "Manage". Select "Disk Management". The partition identified by "System" under "Status" is your active partition.

You can change the active partition. But, you cannot change the drive letter of the boot or the system partition.

So, please provide more information.

I would think you can remove the partition you do not want in computer management and then find a way to change the options for booting into the OS. Kind of like making the primary OS the default and giving 0 seconds delay. The main problem is what you probably would prefer to do is resize the partition to use one large partition.

Just do not delete the wrong partition!
