hey guys, i was driving down washington blvd in culver city (los angeles) to goto the gas station, it was late at night like 11pm so the roads were really empty like a car or two. i was going really fast like 50 in a 35 zone and the traffic light turned yellow infront of me. i could've slammed on the brakes, but i decided not to put that kind of strain on my car, so i decided to try and gun it. the light turned red just as i entered the intersection and the camera got a picture of me.

i'm actually from san diego but goto school in la. in SD the red-light cameras have been turned off for a couple of years now due to the legal issues surrounding the justness of using such equipment. i'm looking frantically online to find some way to fight this ticket (which i'm sure is coming), if any of you have any experience with this sort of matter (especially in los angeles) i would love to hear it.

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Waht kind of help do you want. You were speeding, you got caught, and you will get a ticket. There's nothing else to do - pay the fine you fscking leach!

Don't do the crime if you can't pay the fine - learn from your mistakes asshat.

ticket should be close to 300 bucks...since running a redlight usually warrants a top tier traffic fine. in san diego i believe they declared those redlight tickets via photo as invalid because of a 3rd party administering it. Doubt u will get out of this one..but u could try a lawyer.

Ran a couple of red lights in the LA area (ppl seem to do it all the times in Santa Monica) but never got a picture taken. There either was no camera or they didn't take my picture.

Anyhow, if you are sure the back of your car passed the intersection before the red light turned red then you have nothing to worry about. The picture will prove you not guilty. However, this is very hard to determine because you were sitting inside your car travelling at a high speed.

Over a speeding ticket?>!?!?!?!? - you guys are fscking pathetic. Personally, I think red light and speeding fines shoudl be in excess of $1000 - that way none of you dumbasses would even think about doing it.

you guys are seriously of no help, i swear if any of the guys who were like "f--- off, go pay it you speeding jerk!" ever ask for help of any sort i won't say anything but just laugh in your face.

i'm asking for any information or assistance you guys can render, just because you can't get laid and are stuck 80lbs overweight in your asscrack chair doesn't mean you can't be compassionate. and seriously, it really sucks that there are people out there who honestly don't care if another person is in pain or having hardship.

the fact of the matter is- i KNOW i ran the red light because i THOUGHT i could get through the intersection since i just bought a used car and haven't been able to change the brakes yet (they suck, very loose and wouldn't have stopped my car in time). reality isn't black and white and if you guys ever got off your butts and into a sociable communicative world instead of throwing out your caustic unconstructive introverted one-liners because you're trying to get off steam from some bully beating you up in the 4th grade and it makes you feel like a big man to pick on someone when you know they're as helpless as you were when you were getting the crap beat out of you, you'd know there are two sides to every story.

having said that, thank you to the guys who actually are trying to suggest helpful ways to get out of this.

the ticket will most likely be around $300 and i'll probably get it in a few weeks, it's not worth getting a lawyer, but it is worth getting some research and info on what exactly is going on with red-light cameras.

i'll probably end up having to pay the fine, but we'll see what happens. mostly i'm just worried about my insurance premiums going up.

Why dont you go to court and say you werent driving the car, you had loaned it to someone else. Hell, say a bum borrowed it, burden of proof SHOULD be on the State. Although it isnt, it should be.

I've slid by the just red's too, although I try not too. Had a friend almost die from some jackass blowin a red and T-bonin him. Course, he lived but just got his bell rung pretty good. He ALSO almost went to jail cause at the time it happened he was transporting quite a good deal of cocaine. Fortunately the cops never searched the trunk, or they woulda been about 150 kilos better off. Such is life.

Question 1 : Were you speeding??

Question 2 : Did you run a red light??

Question 3 : Do you ever take responsibility for anything??

Just wait for the ticket, pay your fine, and get on with your life. It's not the end of the world. Just be grateful that you were caught by a redlight camera and not a cop, since you'd have two, maybe three tickets to deal with.

Nice excuses and all, but you ate the big one and will have to deal with. Do you think you are the only asshat to ever get a ticket? I've had 6? Care to compare? 6 from the age of 16-17, and then none for 4 years after that. Not getting a ticket is NOT that hard to do. Don't drive like a moron and you won't have any problems.

Well, think about it this way: At least you weren't doing 450 MPH while sharing your car with six poor people. No one at all would help you then!

As it is, I think you're going to have to go the usual course with this one. There's really no way to get out of a ticket like that, but maybe you could contest it or something after you get it. I dunno -- I've never gotten a ticket.

dillsh*t, i haven't gotten a ticket in 5 years, i KNOW it's not hard to get a ticket, but crap happens. don't tell me random out of the blue split-second decision stuff doesn't bong you over the head, i had less than a second to decide to brake super hard or accelerate. whatever you think you would've/could've done is a moot point, the point is why don't you guys stop thread-crapping and say something useful instead of "follow the law", "your fault dickweed", "i'd kill you if i was that camera" and post something helpful, otherwise just STFU.

Question 1 : Were you speeding??

Question 2 : Did you run a red light??

yes, if you had read my previous post you know i admitted i was speeding and i ran a red light, if you're point is then to say i'm saying it's not my fault, you've obviously missed the entire point of this thread. cuz i KNOW technically what i broke the law, and all i'm asking for is for you guys to help me find some info on traffic-cameras since they're not used in San Diego and i'm not sure if i should goto the judge and ask for a reduction in the fine. either way i KNOW i'm going to pay a fine, and i'm just hoping the judge will be a nice guy and not the 90% of you f*cks who seem to love thread-crapping and being uselessly mean. (this doesn't necessarily apply to you 95SS since you're point is well taken that it's not the end of the world, but i'm still asking for assistance nonetheless).

Not to sound like a dick, but "fight this ticket" != try to get ticket reduced. If you want to get info to get it reduced, more power to you. Good luck.

you must not come here a lot... or you would know this was gonna happen. the fact that you act like an ass in response doesn't help your case. speeding ticket threads are the biggest flamefests of all...
sounds like theres no much you can do except pay it. if there was a valid defense to these cameras they wouldn't have any effect and wouldnt be used.

I think you're stuck with it. As far as I've seen, traffic courts don't give your arguments (valid or not)
the slightest consideration. If the cop sais you were wrong, you were wrong. Especially in this case with the picture. With a
lawyer things might be different but unless your insurance is at risk of skyrocketing, it's really not worth the trouble
or cost.

Why dont you go to court and say you werent driving the car, you had loaned it to someone else.

Brilliant! Go into court and turn a moving violation into a felony with one small lie!
