Help--I need a new FPS game.

I am an old gamer from the Quake and Quake II days. I loved them. Years ago I tried Unreal and Half Life, but for some reason I just couldn't get in to it. Maybe too may complex commands or stuff to remember. I don't want to play on line. Any sugestions. Thanks R

Solider of Fortune II, it's a bit old based on Q3 engine so you should be able to get it really cheap.

Great games. No real 'strategy' - just run n' gun. Lots of mindless fun.
I also enjoyed Call of Duty.

If you want run and gun, then Serious Sam or Painkiller. Painkiller just came out with an expansion so you may be able to buy it in a combo pack with the original.

If you want something a little more real then Call of Duty or MOH AA.

Definitely go with Serious Sam. If you like the game or want to know more, our forum has the the remaining active players from the game and I'm sure you would have no problems finding co-op or fragging partners. We also run some of the last dedicated DM servers for the game.

I'll also suggest Serious Sam. "Run n gun" is an apt description there. No real plot, no thinking involved. Pure fun!

Serious Sam is fun indeed, and cheap. You may also be interested in Quake 4 when it comes out (saw a preview in some pc magazine a week or so back, looks a lot like Doom 3).

Quake -> Painkiller is a good hop. Unfortunatly, Painkiller simply isn't as good as Quake1, but, well, nothing is.

Serious Sam is another good suggestion, but it is a bit more over the top. More of a throwback to Doom1 and 2 multiplied to a factor of 1000.
