Help !! I swallowed gum, need advice

Hi Guys / Gals,

This is going to sound funny, but I accidentally swallowed a Dentine Ice Gum tonight while I was laughing hard at one of my friend's joke.

I can feel the gum is stuck in my throat. If I swallow, I can feel something is blocking. I have tried to puke it out but with no success.

Is this gonna be ok? What should I do to best take care of the problem? Should I go see a doctor ? Am I freaking out too much?

dont now too much about this ut i assume it shouldn't be too much of a problem otherwise they wouldn't be able to sell chewing gum considering how easy it is to swallow it (no i've never done it but i imagine kids might do it)

Nothing wrong with swallowing gum...it will not stay inside of you for 7 years blah blah blah, maybe a week. Just eat something to make it go down (ie bread). If it's "still there", you're probably just thinking/feeling that it is...I've had that feeling before, just go to sleep

Uhh, he said it is caught in his throat. Ill effects will occur if it blocks his wind pipe.

Man... sounds scary ... the last time I swallowed a gum was about 10 yrs ago.

I have just tried to get it out again, but no luck. I am definitely feeling something in my throat.

I can breathe fine and I can talk fine and do everything fine, hopefully it's not something serious

Have you tried drinking fluid to wash it down? Or maybe going to another source for your medical advice, besides the AnandTech forums?

i imagine it will slip off whatever its stuck on over time, eat a good meal, try not to think about it...im sure you're fine

just drink water man...and when i swallow gum, the mucus layer in throat prevents it from being it attached to ur throat..so most likely it's just ur head going insane that it's inside ur throat..but if it's really stuck...yeah, water i guess..

as long as you can breathe you'll be fine...now if your windpipe was completely blocked off, you'd have a problem and then i'd recommend some help : P.

Oh my god you're a total girl! I ALWAYS swallow gum. Always have and always will. I've swallowed many many kilos of it in my life. No ill effects because what can't be digested comes out the back in a day anyway, kind of like corn. There is nothing wrong with swallowing gum. Calm down!

But Man... sounds scary ... the last time I swallowed a gum was about 10 yrs agosounds like he is scared that he swallowed gum, as if it's a chunk of lead or something. If he can sit here at the computer typing it's not stuck in his throat. He's just spazzing
