HELP: Idea for a simple but interesting java program

A hex->decimal converter that can handle fractional components with arbitrary precision. java.lang.Double will get you hex and fractional components but won't give you arbitrary precision. java.math.BigDecimal gives you arbitrary precision but doesn't support hex.

This needs to be something simple that i could write in 30 minutes or less. (I can also use the code of others as long as i credit them). Thank you for your input with the hex-->decimal converter but i don't have any idea how i could go about that. I thought about a program that would converter metric into english but i'm not entirely sure how i could go about that either. I'm thinking of something that wouldn't take many lines but that would be interesting and fun to use.

No its just that its due soon and i need to get it done because i have other work to do right now.
