Fast food is the only game the fits your description. I can't think of any other game with those food items.

there's the atari version and later the was another game also titled fast food. it was more like pacman. Its on the amiga.

I thought so too. Believe me, this has frustrated me for awhile. I even tried to convince her it was Burgertime / Fast Food / Food Fight. I showed her the games I thought they were via emulator/rom, but she swears they aren't it.

Thanks for the laugh. But I'm sure that this game exists. My girlfriend usually has me looking for obscure things from her childhood, and I almost always find them. This, however, has been my unicorn and has stumped me for some time.

I will research more. It's definitely not Fast Food if she's 100% certain that the food fell from top to bottom of the screen.

The game you are looking for is TAZ. (also called ASTERIX in europe)

Taz (the Tasmanian Devil) is going on a feeding frenzy!! Hamburgers, root beers, ice cream cones, tomatoes, apple cores, and other foods will all fly by on the screen, and Taz needs to eat as many of these as he can to earn points. But mixed in with the tasty foods are sticks of dynamite! If Taz accidentally eats the dynamite, he will explode and lose a life. As Taz eats food, the levels will become faster and faster and feature more dynamite mixed in with the food.

It's absolutely this.

Top-to-bottom food falling. The foods are all the same type until you progress the level or whatever, and then it becomes another food type.
