HeLp!! IE makes system freeze!!!

Sups ,
Here's the problem, while running internet explorer 5.5 , 1st my browser freezes, then everything else (the entire system) locks up. I have no idea why! It never happened before so i'm guessing some settings on my computer were changed w/o me knowing. The lockup occurs when loading high graphic websites (several pictures maybe some java?). Anybody know of any settings changes that I can make that may fix this problem?

Yea whenever i visit some webpages that have alot of scripts on it, IE freezes, and then I reboot and then the page loads fine...
also, did you update to that latest version of 5.5?
i had 5.5 off a cd, but windows update page said there was another update for it..
try scandisk or something

Yes i've updated to 5.5 and also the update on the windows update page. I'll give scan disk a try, but everytime my cpu crashes, scan disk runs before windows boots so yeah. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Make sure you clear the temporary internet files and adjust the size of your temp internet cache to a larger size if necessary..if the cache is full it will not allow loading of large images..

and check your advanced section and make sure you have the java selections enabled

 

[Bug]

This is the exact same problem I had that I posted a question about before. I've even installed Win2K SP1 and all the patches for IE 5.5. It still keeps crashing, but only in IE not Navigator 4.75.
Funny thing is, we have no problems whatsoever in NT Server 4, only with Win2K Pro and at the default security setting on a clean install partition.
