Where I'm at the adi g910 and the viewsonic e790 almost cost the same. The adi comes with a sony trinitron tube while the viewsonic is a shadow mask. The thing that confuses me is why the adi hasn't gotten good reviews, they say that the image quality isn't that great compared to others flat screen monitors while the viewsonic has gotten rave reviews. So my question is between a mediocre flat screen apperture grill and a better shadow mask crt which one would deliver better picture quality.I mostly used my system for gaming so that is the primary consideration.Among the ones listed below which would you recommend this are the few ones that is within my budget and is available in my country?.Thanks

I would get an AG monitor. Once you get used to them you won't go back. More specifically, I would go for the ADI. I've seen some good reviews, and I've only had good experiences with them in the past.

Take a look at the Samsung 955DF for sale on Onvia.com - $297 with $30 rebate = 267 with free shipping. This is a very well reviewed flat screen 19" monitor, and a great deal...

I read your list, but here is a few words of advice.
When you buy a monitor today, it's more than likely one of the most expensive single pieces of equipment for your pc.
People don't upgrade monitors as often as the other components ( cpu's, video cards , etc ).
So what you buy today , you may be stuck with for several years.

Take into account the following before purchasing:

1. Is the screen a "real" flat screen or is there slight distortion? ( screen slightly curved )
2. Does the maximum refresh rate for the monitors highest resolution meet or do better than 72Hz?
(anything less does cause eye strain after viewing for a while, I prefer 85Hz or better)
3. Is the dot pitch equal to or less than .26?
4. Can you afford more?

It's really better to pay as much as you can for your monitor, this isn't a place to skimp at all.

I have a Viewsonic G810 21" which I absolutely love, but it's out of reach monetarily for a lot of people.
I recently looked for good bargains for my wife's pc as her monitor went on the fritz.

What we ended up buying was a CTX 19" for $269. It filled all the above requirements except being true flat.
It's really a nice monitor actually, text is crisp at all resolutions and it has a decent refresh rate.

I'm a big fan of the iiyama vision master pro monitors myself, great monitors. Worth the cost.

I just bought a Samsung 700nf(17&quot and I love this thing. It is so flat and great picture quality. If you are looking for 19 inchers get the 900nf, and I guarantee you won't regret it.

I'd definately get a good one like a Samsung, NEC, KDS, or Hitachi so you aren't stuck with some crappy one.

What's your budget?

If you're on a budget then go for the Samsung 955df as mcoady said, but if you've got the cash then opt for the Samsung 900nf. Both monitors are great, but depending on your budget you have 2 options.

I've done alot of research myself and have came up with these two monitors as the best in their category. Samsung truly makes some great monitors!

900nf will serve you right. I spent 3 straight months learning everything about 17 and 19 inch monitors so I could buy the best. For myself, it turned out I was on a tight budget so I went the 17 inch way and got the 700 nf. There is nothing wrong with sacrificing size for quality.
