A friend of mine wanted to try some overclocking on my KT7-Raid, convinced me of its feasibility, and proceeded to thoroughly crash my machine. The last thing I remember him doing was changing the DRAM Timing from Host CLK to Hst CLK + PCI, or something like that. The machine doesn't even boot, according to emergency procedures in the manual, I tried holding the insert key while turning on the machine, all I get is one single blinking cursor, upper left hand side. I tried holding the delete key when I turned on the machine, got to the initial dos screen, but it hangs after the ram self-test.
Anybody got any ideas? Did we fry the ram?
Thanks in advance.

Reset your bios.

Pull out power cable
Locate reset jumper
move jumper to reset position
hold it there for a minute.
move jumper back to original position.

That has actually happened to me before when building an Athlon system for my brother. Clear the damn BIOS. Your problem may be that your ram isn't CAS2 and he set it up as such in the BIOS. This locks the machine up. Some memory rated for CAS3 can run fine @ CAS2 (like my CompUSA sticks), but rarely. If you can get a stick of CAS 2 memory try installing it in one of the DIMM slots and try to boot up. What memory do you have? You may have memory rated for much lower bus speeds. If you have PC-100 sticks that could also be your problem, get PC-133 memory. Host CLK = 100MHz while Host CLK + PCI = 133MHz. Good luck!
